The Marriott at Cologne Central Station is not far from the train station, just a few minutes' walk away. It is very close to Cologne Cathedral and Museum Ludwig. From 8am till around 4pm there were two separate 'evacuations' into the hotel lobby with fire and police services being called both times. After the first evacuation, we went into town, came back 4 hours later, only for the whole hotel to be evacuated again!! Hotel staff were short tempered and nasty, bluntly barking at us to evacuate with hours going by until they finally told us there'd been a water leak. An emergency situation is understandable and I'm not bothered about that event, but the staff's handling of it was utterly poor. A question about needing to return to a hotel room, after several hours of waiting, to collect an inhaler for asthma, was met with grossly insensitive jokes about secretly taking ecstasy and then we were ignored. This whole ordeal largely amounted to the hot water being switched off, which then remained off for several days. One staff member teased we would get 'freebies' from the hotel as a gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience; this did not happen. The main hotel lifts became unusable and after being instructed to use the service lifts instead, a bartender charged towards us screaming and being unbelievably hostile, refusing to let us pass or listen to what other hotel staff had literally just informed us to do. His behaviour was diabolical, but he made no apologies for himself and excused himself from the conversation. It was outrageous seeing the entire hotel be displaced in such a clunky and slapdash way. Most of the hotel staf were rude, blunt and pompous. One single receptionist was polite and friendly, and that was the woman who checked us out. Every three or four hours someone was knocking at our door or entering our room for cleaning purposes; we could scarcely relax. We've never felt so harassed in a hotel. The hotel cups provided were barely fit for a gobful of drink and they even took away our only spoon to stir our drinks. The sanitisation standards of the hotel were inadequate, failing to provide basic antibacterial or hand soaps in rooms; I had to use a face soap to wash my hands and the red seating between the lobby and bar was heavily stained with black marks. The restaurant always seemed closed, tha bar never had more than three tables with customers, the bar layout was so cramped that I banged my leg trying to take a seat and the entire hotel decor was dreary and miserable. Most of the TV channels didn't work either. I think the only positives were having a free apple from the bowl in reception every day and ultimately leaving the hotel forever!

The hotel is located on a very beautiful street. There are many shops around and it is pleasant to walk around the street. The hotel room is comfortable. The room I stayed in had both a shower and a bathtub. The bed was big and comfortable. Pillows were soft. However, the window of the room I stayed in was facing a school and there could be noise in the mornings. It was not a problem for me because I woke up early, but it may be a problem for those who like to sleep more. Also, the hotel restaurant is very successful. I ate lamb viennese schnitzel and apple tart. If you have time you must try it. Greetings to the very polite and helpful waiters.

Overall, considering the price of the hotel in Germany, it is cost-effective.

What a pleasure! I love being pleasantly surprised. The hotel is clean and upscale right next to the Rhine. The reception desk is friendly and helpful. They were patient while I stumbled over my newly learned German. However they speak English as well. We had a double bed (with an extra bed for my daughter). It’s spacious enough for three. They have a wonderful hot shower with tons of water pressure. The maid service has been wonderful, the garage provides ample parking but be careful if you have a wide car or you will likely hit the sides as you enter or leave the garage. (Like most of the hotels in Germany- they are designed for small cars) The location is terrific, 10 min walk to the Zentrum. We feel so lucky to have made an excellent hotel decision. If we come back to Bonn, we are staying here!

location is A+. 2 minuite walk to the Heinrich underground station which takes you straight to the Messe. Hotel is nice. strange layout but its a medieval building so its part of the charm. Front desk leaves much to desire for a 5 star hotel. the room is ok. was given room 131. mattress was collapsed and definitely not commercial 5 star hotel standard.felt more of a foam cushion than a mattress with just 10 cm height of cushioning. i am 1.87 mtrs height and 110kgs. the mattress went concave when i lied down and my upper back muscles namely rhomboids and lats felt it badly in the morning. Advised the front desk who replied nothing can be done because all mattresses are like that. i don't insist or complain further if i am refused or rejected the first time i ask. on my checkout i advised front desk whose manager was present and i advised i was very happy with location but not with bed. i had no reply from her and she moved away stating in awe that no one had such an issue. on a positive note the breakfast operators who were very attentive and courteous at all times. for 950 euros for 3 nights i think they are very lacking in not being able to provide the basic hotel service of a good nights rest.

Very good location and easy to arrival and park your car, the reception employees are very friendly and helpful, the room was very nice and clean, nice view on the garden, near the brand shops and the old town and close to the nice garden for walking.

The Hotel shows five stars! The room had no wifi whatsoever, although they showed three different wifi lans. Attempts to bridge this gap with mobile hotspots were not helpful. Noises from other rooms were audible, which means a bad noise insulation. Worst of all was that there was first only boiling hot water in the bathroom. This was due to the fact that all cold water supplies were closed. Still after opening them ourselves, one of the two lavatories cold water regulator was not functional. Shocking was that the shower was switching from regulated 38 degrees Celsius to suddenly boiling hot water and then to ice cold water. This made showering an unpleasant not to say dangerous encounter! You judge if this Hotel deserves the five star rating. Our attempt to communicate the shortcomings was prompted with the statement that the maintenance technicians had left! (???)

I can’t say enough about our stay here except that I wish I could have stayed for longer. The staff and service was perfect from start to finish, being highly professional but personable at the same time.

I’ve stayed here for long periods twice, once during the pandemic and once in January 2023, Great location, however the place is outdated, very dusty and unclean in general. See images for how dirty the floor, curtains and bathroom are. There is a distinct musk smell that lingered through the room at all times and it very pungent when you first enter I could forgive this during the pandemic but not after the pandemic. The staff are hit and miss, some very friendly and some very rude. They also left a key in my door as as you can imaging I was surprised as it opened the door, and apparently this was my fault. They sometimes has a large dog in reception that growls and barks at you which is not the welcoming attribute you would expect from a”premium” establishment Parking is a nightmare with a roaring 3 tier small car only underground space. It’s clunky and takes a solid 5-10 min to get your car out All in all, it’s ok but not really worth the cost and with the unprofessionalism of some staff members my recommendation is to avoid
