A Studio apartment vibes, nicely renovated unit. Location is very good and central. Grab is affordable—around RM7–RM20++ to most places for 6 pax, and usually under RM30++ to the airport.
Walking distance to vegetarian food like 8 Morality Vegetarian Restaurant, desserts at Four Beans, and close to 1st Avenue Mall, so getting around is easy.
Unit is on level 29 with a nice Penang view. Morning sun comes in, but curtains are provided. Facilities are simple—a small gym and a swimming pool on level 36 with a good view. Security is good, with access card required everywhere, including your own floor.
Essentials are well provided: Steamer, hair dryer, fridge, and even a wok if you want to cook. Hot and cold water dispenser is available—this is a super plus point. Shampoo and body soap are provided; please bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste. Tv, ceiling fan and aircon is available. 4 charging points available at bedside. Table with 3 chairs for cozy lunch or quick bites. Grabfood very convenient, just collect it at the lobby will do. Check-in is at 3pm and check-out at 11am, which is reasonable. Instructions by MC Home are clear and easy to follow, as they are super responsive. A few small downsides: occasional plumbing smell near the lobby (around Bila Bila Mart, not inside the unit) - management should solve this and also no washing machine cum dryer is available, and the unit is close to the lift so you may hear some noise at night (once or twice — which is fine for us). The apartment is very new (completed mid-2025), so there may be some ongoing renovation works during the day. Still highly recommended! Had a good family staycation!
We stayed in G Hotel Kelawai for 5 nights. The hotel is between two shopping malls - Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon. Excellent location. Another hotel nearby (about 400m) is G Hotel Gurney. Both the hotels' guests are given the option to use each other's facilities and guests are given the flexibility to have their breakfast at either hotel without any advanced notice. By the way, G Hotel Gurney is the older hotel and is directly connected to Gurney Plaza, whereas G Hotel Kelawai is less crowded and quieter, which we liked. The breakfast variety is acceptable for guests who are on a short stay. Out of curiosity, we wanted to try out the breakfast at G Hotel Gurney but were prevented from doing so because of the heavy rain. Upon request, hotel guests can commute between the two by the hotels' buggy. The 25-m swimming pool and gym in Kelawai were hardly used. Clean and well-maintained rooms.
I have upgrade my room to 1bedroom suite. My family and I love the room. My kids enjoy the bathtub. Hotel location is good too as it is near to the airport. It only cost me about RM14 by taking grab from hotel to airport. Will definitely book again..
Love the stay and staffs are all friendly! Room was so spacious! Will definitely come back for a stay.
Just a small drawback which was the noise for my second morning, I complained about it and hotel mentioned was the mall beside and they can’t do anything plus it was a Sunday! Our friends who were staying in higher floor (30+) didn’t hear that, our floor located at 20 stg so maybe it depends on luck?
I stayed for six days and five nights, and had to switch rooms on the very first night. The shower pressure was weak, and the water kept fluctuating between hot and cold. The bathroom floor drain was clogged, and the air conditioning in the room was insufficient, with the control panel locked and unadjustable (after changing rooms, only the clogged bathroom drain improved)! Room cleanliness was acceptable, and the breakfast was a buffet, but the quality was just average, so don't expect too much! It definitely doesn't feel like a five-star hotel.
Room is spacious, can open at least 4 luggages. Bed and pillow are comfy, too bad there is only 1 type of pillow.
Was told by front desk they will ask bell boy to send the luggage to our room during check in but still nothing after 1 hour. Room is a bit too dark, there was dust on the tissue box. Bath robe & bathroom tiles have stinks.
Front desk was disappointing. Didn’t explain anything about hotel service/ facilities. Previously stayed at Park Royal where staff also said nothing but at least there’s a whole manual I can read in the room. Asked front desk at night how much for a late check out but he didn’t know and told us to call in the morning. Also asked us for the luggage tag when we retrieved our luggage but they didn’t give us in the first place. Front desk doesn’t feel welcoming.
Room is spacious but a bit dark even turning on all the nights. Love that there’s YouTube on the TV. There’s a slight moldy smell so had to turn the air-con very cold. Would be great if it there could be foam pillows which are better for necks.
Location is ok, a few mins walk to Campbell street. Grab to various places mostly cost around USD$3, around USD$8 to airport. General experience is ok but I expect more from a 5 star hotel.
Fantastic hotel!
Great value for money!
The hotel's style is very tasteful, cleanliness is excellent, room facilities are well-maintained, and the view is superb. The gym and pool are new and very clean.
The breakfast offers a wide selection, and the restaurant's ambiance and tableware are very stylish.
The lobby and room service staff are all friendly and professional.
The location is by the sea, and using Grab for transportation is very convenient, with everything close by.
The room design is excellent, and the cleanliness and service are top-notch. The location is also very convenient, with plenty of restaurants and convenience stores downstairs. It's just a few minutes' walk to catch a boat to the train station, and it only takes 15 minutes and 2 ringgit to get there.
I love this heritage house so much that we have to stay a few nights here. The front desk person told us that this heritage house was actually owned by one of the Royal family previously, and it was recently sold in fact just last mth to a local business man. The entire house was well maintained and all the rooms are spacious with fully functional amenities you needed. The welcome drink was really nice, they change every morning with fresh chill drinks. Every corner of the house is a great spot for photos. Quite worth the stay.
Although the hotel doesn't look new or modern, the interior is mostly wooden and painting. The hotel room was very clean especially the toilet. The breakfast buffet is delicious with a variety of choices.

1105119****Highly recommended hotel! They arranged a room with a pool view for me, and even surprised us with a bottle of wine and a wedding anniversary cake – so thoughtful! The breakfast spread was incredibly rich and varied. I'd definitely recommend staying in the Heritage Wing; you can spend your afternoons blissfully napping by the gorgeous pool every day. The service was warm, though I did notice they seemed *exceptionally* enthusiastic with Caucasian guests. 😉 Still, it's the best hotel I'd recommend in Penang!
MMiaoMeowI found the hotel to be overall excellent and beautiful. The front desk and bellhop staff were quite enthusiastic, while others were just okay. The hotel facilities were also ample; for instance, since we arrived in the afternoon, the hotel allowed us to check in early. This meant I could easily take a nap on a sun lounger by the pool and even follow the sun to explore different parts of the hotel. The weather was great, and the ambiance was lovely. The hotel's location is fantastic, about a five-minute walk to the delicious Natsu. It was a shame that Bora Bora, right next to Natsu, was closed on Wednesday, so I missed out on the fire show, but the food was superb. The location is also a big plus for solo travelers wanting to go to the beach at night; I enjoyed a safe and peaceful time by myself. There were many breakfast options, but I felt the taste was pretty standard, nothing to write home about. My only minor complaint is that the shower head kept falling down and couldn't stay in place.
__cmb439225000059****Opened in 2025, the rooms are very new and the shower offers a full wrap of hot water with great pressure, making it feel like a spa after bathing – very comfortable. The swimming pool on the 23rd floor is also fantastic, allowing you to enjoy the strait's night view while swimming. It was a pleasant experience overall.
SSyazzyanaWe came on weekend and quite late already and its still quite crowded. But they can still deliver our room without the needs of us waiting some more. They do provide welcome drink at the lobby which is quite nice and refreshing. However, I do expect some simple deco for anniversary as any other 5star resort would have and I have requested it earlier in the booking remarks, but did not get it, quite disappointed. Other than that, all is good, the facilities is good, hot air balloon experience is nice.

XXthephineI’ve stayed at Lone Pine a few times and always enjoyed the experience, but this trip was a bit disappointing. The room arrangement wasn’t smooth — my first room had a constant clicking sound, so I had to change rooms. Even though I booked earlier, the replacement room still didn’t feel like a good arrangement.
Breakfast also fell short of expectations. The variety was very limited, and both coffee machines ran out of coffee beans before 9am, so they couldn’t be used. At the egg station, I requested two hard-boiled eggs, but instead of preparing them, I was told to take the ones from the nasi lemak section. Overall, the breakfast service really needs improvement.
I also went for the Elite Hour for drinks and snacks, but the snack selection was honestly quite awful and extremely limited. It didn’t match the standard I expected from Lone Pine.
I hope the hotel can look into these details, as Lone Pine is a lovely place and I truly hope to see the experience return to the quality I used to enjoy.

11390194****The room had a cool rock-and-roll theme.
The hotel offers a nice view from the room, facing the sea – it really gives off a 'spring blossoms and warm breeze' vibe. We booked a sea-view room, and the large balcony was incredibly comfortable. The sea breeze was just right, not too cold, not too hot. It made for a very pleasant holiday.
There's a big children's water park on the ground floor, bustling with a lively atmosphere. It was a bit noisy, but great for families.
The restaurant's breakfast had a lot of main courses, and while there was a wide variety, it was heavily focused on heavy, main-dish type foods. It didn't quite suit my family's eating habits. I even saw someone with a plate of curry crab; honestly, such heavy options for breakfast felt a bit much and not what I'm used to.
However, the hotel hallways had an incredibly strong chemical air freshener smell, which I found very off-putting and unpleasant.
Despite that, the hotel's scenery is actually quite decent. Taking a stroll by the sea after dinner was quite relaxing.
