Hot spring Hotels in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan

We loved the view from the room, Sakura Island was just in front of us and we could actually see smoke coming out of its crater which was pretty awesome. The pools were also nice and the traditional restaurant near the lobby had some great Japanese food. The service was excellent, too. The only downside was that the bus stop is a bit far and walking to it in the middle of summer isn’t pleasant. But a taxi to the main train station costs around ¥1,800 which isn’t bad.

The staff members were very hospitable. Check in was fast and Jeffrey gave us detailed explanation of the facilities of the hotel. He also greeted us every time he met us in the lobby. While the renovation in the room is old fashioned, it is kept clean. We were very lucky that we had good view of Sakurajima during our two days stay. Breakfast in the lobby cafe and dinner in the Japanese restaurant were good.

Very good. The hot spring is good. The facilities are good. Recommend to book this hotel if you want to enjoy quality holiday.

This is my second time stay. The hotel is very new, rooms are spotlessly clean, great shower, comfortable beddings, high quality service. There is a gym and spa which is good for those who like using the facilities. It’s a bit far from JR though but they provide free shuttle. I haven’t used the shuttle service since we’re driving, so the location is not a problem. Simply liked everything. Highly recommended.

Nice and comfortable resort; beautiful beach; first time experience hot sand bath in the hotel. Really enjoy. We are very lucky to have a passionate Taiwan trainee at the reception to help us going around the resort as we don't speak any Japanese. The breakfast buffet is delicious with many choice. Definitely would like to visit again and spend more days there next trip

Coffee beans and grinders were provided, so I was able to enjoy freshly brewed coffee in the morning. I was also able to rent a private bath twice, and although it was cold when I got out of the open-air bath, I was captivated by the beautiful garden view, and the water temperature was just right, so I was able to warm up quickly. The only disappointment was the attitude of the staff at the shop. First, there were no baskets, so when I asked for one, they said ”Please wait a moment” in a slightly irritated tone. Thankfully, a customer next to me who had just finished purchasing couldn't bear to see me and gave me his own basket. Also, there was no sign of a self-checkout, so when I was waiting for a staff member to pay, he coldly told me, ”It's a self-checkout.” This was a bit disappointing.

I used it on a trip with my daughter and two women. The decisive factor was that there was a large hot spring bath, and it was reasonable in the city. It is a hot spring that sighs in the body tired of sightseeing, and the room is beautiful! Winter drying is also equipped with an air washing machine with a humidifier, so there is no throat of the next day! I would like to use it again at a hotel that is perfect.

Typical Japanese-style room, beautiful view outside the window. The camellia in the hotel is in full bloom. Akamatsuyu is great. I saw it twice during my stay at the hotel. It was a pleasant surprise. It was snowing, and it was wonderful to soak in the hot spring in the snow. The meal was also good. The dinners were different for two nights, which was considered for the guests. The hotel has its own hiking root, and you can see the waterfall when you walk over. The overall feeling is great.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in is an old hot spring hotel. It is said to have been passed down from generation to generation. The Japanese-style garden design is very beautiful. The Japanese-style room we booked was very spacious and included breakfast and dinner. The hotel has its own farm and ingredients. They are all sourced from their own farms, and Wagyu beef can be delivered all over Japan. The breakfast is very exquisite, and for dinner you can enjoy Kaiseki dishes such as Wagyu beef and lobster. The dining service in the room is very good, and you can also choose to eat in the restaurant. The hotel service is very good, providing daily pick-up and drop-off services to the airport, Hayato Station, and Kokubu Station. The hotel staff will proactively ask if you need to make a reservation for pick-up every day, and provide one-on-one pick-up with high-end vehicles. There is free freshly ground coffee in the lobby and free minibars in the rooms. There is a private bath in the room, which can be used indoors or outdoors. The hotel and room environment is very good, and the private outdoor hot spring space in the room is also relatively large;  The only thing is that the hotel is located near the city. Although it is more convenient, it also sacrifices and lacks the landscape of . This depends on personal choice. But in general, it is considered a hotel worth staying in. 

It's in a convenient location just next to q small plaza with restaurants and shops. The meals included are very delicious and staff are hospitable. The private onsens are clean and nice.

Before making a reservation, I hesitated because of the lack of information, but after checking in, I was sure that it was the best choice. I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. Advantage 1. Private hot spring I was happy because I could soak in the bathtub at any time. I stayed at a private hot spring ryokan in Yufuin, but that place had a structure where you couldn't see outside. You can see the river from the bathroom at Yuyuan. Plus, you can see Sakurajima! Advantage 2. Cleanliness Even if you walk barefoot, your soles are clean. There is no dust anywhere in the room. Even the outside of the window is clean. Advantage 3. Spacious room When I travel, I always choose a room that is at least 25 square meters. It's uncomfortable if it's small. The room I stayed in was 50 square meters. It was spacious for two people. Advantage 4. Meals I had seasonal dinners twice and breakfasts twice, and I ate at the restaurant on the second floor. It was very comfortable because it was a private room. The taste was also excellent. I was even more satisfied because the dishes were made with Kagoshima specialties. Advantage 5. Friendly staff I felt warm staying at a hotel with friendly staff. They were people I want to meet again! The only downside. I took the bus. It was a small bus, not a bus that puts your luggage in the luggage compartment, so I was confused. Of course, this is not a problem for those who take a taxi or rent a car. It is not a good location for those who want to be in a busy area. If you like to take a walk while enjoying the quiet and beautiful scenery, it would be an excellent choice. It was a happy time for me. I walked to Kagoshima Shrine. I gave carrots to a beautiful horse and prayed. Yuyu-an is the perfect place for healing^^

[Good] The location is great, very close to the Sand Raku Hall (and the bus stop), by the sea, it's very pleasant to fall asleep listening to the sound of the waves at night. There are sand baths (1200 yen) and hot springs, very comfortable. [Bad] Maybe it's because it's a Japanese inn. The cleaning lady suddenly opened the door with a key and came in to make a blanket for me while I was still in the room, which scared me. (Japanese inn service habits?) [Summary] Super cost-effective, elegant environment, friendly and kind service staff who can speak English.

I first chose this hot spring hotel because it was close to the Sand Sand Hall so I could try Ibusuki's famous black sand bath. But it turns out that this hotel is also quite comfortable. The room size is not large, just stayed for 3 people, the room has no bathroom, there is a large bath on the 5th floor, and there is an open-air hot spring on the 1st floor. As a hot spring hotel, the equipment is relatively general, the sea view is good and beautiful, and the dinner is better, but the service is average. I went to ask the jr and bus in the center of Kagoshima the next day. The front desk was not clear. I checked them and told them that I would take us to the bus stop. The whole service was warm, but the news was not complete. Compared with the Wudao Hot Spring, the service is not meticulous.

Let me start with the conclusion: the hotel is good, but trip.com is bad. I booked a non-smoking room, but trip.com reported that the hotel had a smoking room. When I checked in, I found that the room smelled very heavy of smoke, so I discussed it with the hotel. At that time, the hotel showed me that the reservation document from trip.com showed a smoking room, which was exactly the opposite of the screenshot of my reservation for a non-smoking room. The hotel also said that there were no similar non-smoking rooms available and they could only give me a larger double room. I don't want to take advantage of this. It's obviously trip.com's fault, but the hotel has to bear it. Therefore, I wrote down the experience truthfully. I don’t know whether this review will be published, because I didn’t reply to the online conversation on trip.com at that time, so it was left alone. Once again, the hotel is very good, but please think carefully about whether you need to book through trip.com.
