Blabjorg Resort

3 of us stayed in the studio apartment for 2 nights after 4 days walking through the Eastern fjords. The apartment was clean, spacious, and the beds were comfy. There was tea and coffee provided, but no milk, which was a little odd. We had a decked area in front of the apartment, with fantastic view across the bay. The only downside was that it was too hot without leaving the door or window open, and then the little black flies got in. Not that they seemed to be biting ones. Ate in the restaurant both nights and were very happy with the food and service. Breakfasts were pretty good too - lots of homemade stuff, plenty of choice, just not much in the way of hot, just scrambled eggs and sausages. Reception were there when we needed to ask questions, and were helpful.

This place is tucked away in the fjord. It's not the Ritz Carlton but do you expect that. This place had a great bed (single) and the shower was powerful and hot, bathroom was clean and enough room for one person to stay overnight. It's right on the fjord you can walk out of the hotel and just stare at the Aurora Borealis. Center of town so it's easy to get to other places.
Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon

Iceland is the best place to travel!!! Although it is in the wilderness, it is very close to the glacier lagoon. If you have plans to visit the glacier lagoon and don't go to Hofn, this is the best place to stay. It only takes half an hour to drive to the glacier hiking Diamond Beach and the glacier lagoon speedboat. If you live in Vik, it will take more than two hours to drive there. If you are hiking, it is really convenient. You don't have to get up early. The hotel has a restaurant, so you can solve brunch, lunch and dinner. It's really great!

The hotel facilities are complete. It is beyond imagination that the public bathroom is very clean and has no odor. There is only one washing/drying machine. It takes a while for a lot of people. (I waited for almost 2 hours because some people were unconscious. The clothes are left for a long time before they are taken away, which is a waste of my sleep time.) The room is super small. It is really recommended to divide the room for more than 4 people. It is really narrow enough that even the suitcase can not be opened for a long time, but basically it can be

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Great newer windows, roomy and warm. Staff did a great job and was very accommodating. We had dinner at the hotel and were very pleased with our choices. Nice breakfast buffet with a great selection.

While the lounging and dining area was large and bright, the kitchen was tiny and poorly laid out. There was no way to have two groups prepare a meal at the same time, the sink was in the way of the fridge and the conduction cooktop did not respond to touch. One of the three days, we had no towels to wash or dry our dishes ( which were hand washed by the guests, poorly!) The bed was hard, lumpy and saggy. The bathrooms were adequately clean, but the air circulation was very poor if the door was shut between users as it often was. Their smells persisted for at least ten minutes after they left the room. The hallways and dining area was extremely echo-y. There was no way to carry on two conversations in the room at the same time. We arrived at the usual time guests would arrive - 2 other parties arrived while we were waiting - we had to ring up an employee who was off site and had to wait quite some time. We had the feeling this place was all about the owner making money and nothing else. They charge 5,000 ISK for one load of laundry! Our smaller room did not have information about the services in town but the larger rooms had all the usual information one would expect to welcome you into a new town. Despite the good breeze outside, the windows did not open enough to let enough air flow through to ventilate the rooms. We decided to leave the guesthouse one day early and forfeit the cost to get new accommodations.
Hjartarstaðir Guesthouse

Cabin No. 2, 701 Eiðar, near Egilsstadir. 12 miles and 20 minutes by car north of Egilsstadir. It is one of five cabins, modern but not brand new; soundproofing is minimal and that was annoying as other guests were inconsiderate and kept slamming doors. As I write this there is a baby crying in a nearby cabin. The cabins have a beautiful outlook to the back so I cleaned the windows on the outside. The window in the front door is frosted so no view at all. The kitchen is minimalist, only the basics are provided. Whilst the floor covering is made of plastic, it’s actually a fairly realistic version of oak so looks good. The owner was helpful when I phoned with a query; the cleaner was also considerate and was very helpful when I spoke with her. There isn’t a TV in the room – you have to create your own entertainment.

Rustic. Farm house has undergone various renovations and additions, and the dusty access road & gravel parking is still under construction. Cottages have limited grass parking and no TV, bed is directly under the opening windows, bathroom is long & thin with no towel racks. Breakfast food counter is congested, limited/cozy dining area overlooks duck pond and chicken coop.
Gistihúsið - Lake Hotel Egilsstadir

This is a hotel where you can choose not to stay, but you can't miss its delicious food. From the appetizer to the first course, the beef and lamb of the two main courses are cooked just right, and with the fresh local side dishes, they play beautiful music on your tongue. I strongly recommend that everyone who comes to Iceland must taste this restaurant [strong] [strong] [strong]. The lake view room I booked is not big, but the bath water is very powerful, which can wash away the fatigue of the journey. The hotel provides aurora wake-up service. At night, the aurora dances on the lake outside the hotel window. I just need to crawl from the bed to the window and stick my phone out of the window to take pictures of the exciting aurora [covering my face]. The next day, I left the hotel satisfied after having a fine breakfast. Everything is perfect.
