The Spires Serviced Apartments Aberdeen

Arrived at 5 o’clock just as the keys to our apartment were being put in the safety deposit box. One of the staff kindly showed me round to block D and pointed out our apartment. The front door of the block had been wedged open but the staff member kicked the wedge away. I went into the apartment and used the toilet. When I came back out to get the rest of the family from the car park, I found that I couldn’t open the front door of the block. The latch to open the door just carried on turning… I was stuck! Luckily, I had my mobile with me so I phoned my husband who came round to block D and I passed the keys out to him through the letterbox in order for him to unlock the block door! Surely this is a fire hazard as it prevented access and egress from the building? I called the helpline number and reported the matter but upon leaving the following day, the lock was still not functioning. The apartment itself was rather tired looking. The carpets could be doing with some tlc as they were quite dirty and there were many stains on them. Also, a lick of paint wouldn’t go amiss. The sofa was really uncomfortable and sagged no matter where we sat. There were several stains on it too. The heating didn’t work and the underfloor heating fuse had been removed?!? There was dirt and debris left on the kitchen floor beside the bin, the crockery wasn’t clean and although there was a teapot, it had no lid! The kitchen smelled very stale, and the fridge also had a funky smell. I wish I could say I got a great nights sleep but unfortunately not. The mattress of the double bed was solid and made noise every time I turned over. There was also an awful lot of traffic noise which didn’t make matters better. In the second bedroom, the bedside light wasn’t working. Pre-arrival, we’d paid an extra £30 for a late checkout yet the cleaner came to service the apartment while we were still in there. On the plus side, there is ample free parking. However, sadly, I wouldn’t recommend as it was an all round disappointing experience for the £119 apartment charge.

Lovely apartment, everything you need. Lovely staff too very helpful ☺️ close to shops and really good chippy. Made a long 2 weeks down for hospital much more enjoyable. Would definitely recommend! And will definitely be back in the future!

First time stayed at The Spires Apartment. This is flat size room rather than apartment. We were shocked upon arrival dragging our luggages on the staircase, this place not equip with lift. Washer & dryer, dish washer, fridge, basic cookware - 3pots, 1x fried pan so dirty - greasy non stick coating are peeled off, cutleries availabe. The room are very small with double bed, mattress & pillows are very poor quality. Some of kitchen essential are extremely filthy esp toaster, electric kettle & cooking hood very greasy without filter. Room are not particulary clean, very dusty everywhere including walls, furnitures, windows sills, bed frame, foot/fingers print on coffee table. Kitchen blind covered with stains & dusty top to bottom. Carpet are not been clean/vacuum. As for cleaning, housekeeping staff were lacked of effort in cleaning/thorough cleaning. They should pay attention on cleaning/scrubbing esp stains on bathroom sink, shower cubicle on wall top to bottom, kitchen blind, dusting, floor were not vacuum & mop properly therefore dust remains. Wear & tear everywhere. Worst part, prior to make the bed on weekly basis, housekeeping place all cleaned bedding/sheets & pillows on the floor & on public staircase outside the room. Utterly poor hygiene!! 1x croissant, tiny butter, smallest quantity jam & tiny packet juice provided daily execpt Sunday but we never consume due to their poor hygiene. How we wish that we did not stay in this place in the first place. Overall, extremely disappointed our hard earned gone into wastage.

To be honest, the place feels like home. This was our second stay at The Spires Aberdeen. We arrived quite late, around 22:30, and we got easy instructions to access the safe and to get the apartment keys. We had a great experience, and we would definitely come back here. Ok, the place is not perfect, there is no A/C (but this is Scotland, do you really need it?) , a restaurant for breakfast at least (but you have a fully equiped kitchen and coop and tesco nearby, and a couple of take away also). The washing machine was great as it had a drying option also. There is free parking for the guests, which is not very easy to find in Aberdeen. In my opinion, what they could do better, is to provide better quality products... I mean, the handwash and shower gel are not great, it looks like a fancy brand but the smell is not pleasant... We had only 1 extra black bag for the rubbish bin, which was not enough as we had to cook and when you have a 3 year old todler with you that does not fancy any food, the rubish will build up. Just as a suggestion, if you would keep plenty black bags under the kitchen sink, I dont think the guests will go home with them. Anyway, overall a great experience, not sure how many places can provide the same level of confort and that home feel. Looking forward to come back here next time.

No concept of reception and room service. 2 times out of 3 weeks stay my room was kept open with keys on the door and when complained to Izabela at reception didn't care or apologize. I was additionally charged almost 2 days of stay just for requesting a change in room and an extended check out, FYI - I was charged at £95/night. These guys are very rude and money minded. I won't refer this to anyone except for Kitchen and I have recommended my Corporate travel team on the same.
