My wife and I toured the UK last month visiting family and friends we had made over forty years working here before retiring to Ireland. We entered via Fishguard and spent our first night at this hotel. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The dinner was superb with delicious Nepalese cuisine, the room was quiet and comfortable and breakfast was generous and also delicious. It was a great start to our holiday and I would recommend this place to anyone who is visiting or passing through this lovely part of Wales.

Ate outside in one of the "kiosks" very comfortable. Substantial menu. The baguettes were big, filled to overflowing, with chips and salad. Plenty for 2. Very reasonable prices. Steaming hotel coffees. Would definitely recommend it and will visit again next time we are in the town.

I was born & bred in Abergavenny but moved in my mid 20's, although most of my family still live there. The town has changed a lot since I moved but I still enjoy visiting. The kings Head was one of my haunts back in the day so I thought I'd book a room there, the room was a bit tired & small but the bed was comfy & I slept well. The room was clean with an En-suite and there was a kettle with Tea, Coffee, Milk & biscuits & a wall mounted TV. Breakfast was super, I had the kings Head Special (full english) washed down with a Cappuccino. My egg was cooked how I like it (slightly runny) & fried. I could of had poached or scrambled. Other breakfast items were available & on the second morning I had poached egg on toast & again the eggs were cooked perfectly. I could also have had cereal & fruit but opted for a few glasses of juice instead. The only complaint I had was that I was served by a young male member of staff on the second morning who wasn't as welcoming as the young lady the morning before & had the radio on way to loud behind the counter / bar & the milk he put in my Cappuccino was off. All being said I would stay again & would recommend anyone to try it

We were a group of 12 Armed Forces Veterans who had pre-booked lunch from the menu sent to our group coordinator. Everything was fine until we came to pay the bill. All our meals had increased by £3-£4 each from when we had booked about 2 weeks ago. We showed them the menu we had received but they refused to honour it so we had no alternative but to pay the extra cost. I endeavoured to explain that I believed Trading Standards would side with us and that the original prices should be honoured but to no avail. Needless to say we didn’t give a tip and we won’t be going back!

After reading some of the reviews I was apprehensive about our stay but I can honestly say we had a lovely time. Staff were all friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable with complimentary hair and body gel and conditioner in the shower cubicle and liquid hand wash at the sink. Tea coffee and biscuits were provided and bottles of water. Thank you The Kings Head Hotel

Called in for 1 drink 10 pm told no if you’re not staying here. Obviously don’t need customers paying them for a drink to keep in business. Strange rules to say the least. 2 pensioners before returning to our hotel. Much nicer pub just down. They don’t deserve to be in business. Shame on them

Very disappointing Sunday lunch. Beyond average. Meat all very well done and very uninspiring vegetables served with one giant roast potato. Had much better roast dinners for not much more money. Overpriced and pretty grim. Not great interior either.
