Lovely situation but expensive mediocre food. Also paid £2.50 for ice……a shock as nowhere in the entire trip in the uk was I charged for that. Rooms were okay, hosts were tired I guess as it was the end of the season for them. Not the best experience in our tour of Scotland and England.

What an amazing stay I had at The Lodge on the Loch. Stunning scenery; cosy, clean and comfortable accommodation; a friendly welcome (even the other guests were friendly!); delicious food; relaxing spa treatments; free Wi-Fi; and a beautiful view from my room. A huge shout out to the owner for being so attentive and kind; what a truly special lady she is ❤️ I highly recommend The Lodge on the Loch, and I look forward to visiting there again soon.

While the grounds and hotel itself was fine the host Jean was very rude when we mentioned that we couldn’t lock the doors. She made comment that “I’ve never heard anything so ridiculous you (company name) people never know how to work things. We were on a tour and she was rude to others as well. There really was no need for it.

The setting: Beautiful setting on Aboyne Loch. We only live a 35 minute drive away, and couldn’t believe what beautiful scenery we have so nearby! The accommodation: We stayed in the Glentanar Suite, which has plenty of space, and exclusive use of an outdoor hot tub on the decking. Lovely accommodation. The food: We booked the bed and breakfast package, and also had dinner in the restaurant both evenings. Straightforward process: pre-order your food, then turn up at the time you’ve selected and everything will be ready. Our son has coeliac disease, so he needs gluten-free food, and we were very impressed with the meticulous care taken to avoid any gluten exposure. Overall: A very pleasant stay, and hopefully we’ll be back some day.

Home from the best weekend spent at the lodge on the loch. What an amazing location it was beautiful. Stunning views from the hot tub in the morning. The facilities in the room were fantastic, our room had a treadmill, jacuzzi bath and it’s own sauna and cold plunge pool. The room was really clean, comfy bed, the food was lovely and the hosts were so helpful and friendly. Highly recommend, we’re already looking to book a stay here again very soon. Loved every minute, didn’t want to come home.

My wife and I can’t say enough wonderful things about this lodge. The view from our room was spectacular and it was spotless. The proprietors were very friendly and accommodating. The food tasted wonderful and the portions were more than enough. The grounds are beautiful to walk on and the pheasants don’t seem to mind you joining them. When we come back to Scotland we will definitely be staying here again.

The property is beautifully situated on a golf course fronting on a loch, just off the main road between Aberdeen and Braemar. It's peaceful and quiet. The property itself is very clean and well cared-for, and hosts Jeanne and Derek are welcoming and gracious. The food is delicious and service is quick in their restaurant which overlooks the loch. I've stayed here three years in a row and it feels like coming home.

Unfortunately not very happy. Was sold on the website which promised great views from most rooms but unfortunately our view was awful. We were stuck out at the side and looked onto a caravan and scrap metal and a whirly. Very disappointed. Also we were clearly not wanted. Owners tried their best to sell the nearest restaurants in Aboyne. They couldn’t be bothered opening the restaurant because hotel was quiet.

Wonderful setting. Amazing views Very comfortable room. Excellent shower Good food for both dinner and breakfast The steak pie was really tasty as was the Chocolate Brownie I could have stayed here looking at the views. Friendly hosts. Would definitely come back if I was in the area
