Our party of four arrived at 4:30 and were told if we wanted to eat we had to do so at 6:00. Having had a late lunch this was not feasible. They explained this was due to a large party being seated at 7:00. We asked for a later option and the best that was offered was 6:30. We considered going elsewhere and went to the bar to find it hammered with the large party to the point we could not even get in. We sat outside to discover the only option within 10 miles was closed on Tuesday. We decided to cut our losses and go elsewhere. We have never checked out as soon as we’ve arrived so this was a first. The manager insisted we pay the two rooms in full. While I appreciate we were up for this you would have thought he might have considered the situation and met us perhaps halfway. The hotels inability to offer a dinner service at a fair time with guests paying £300 per room is not the responsibility of the guest. Be warned - book in for dinner in advance as the customer service here is dreadful. There is no taxi service so the remote location cuts down your options and while the manager finally offered scampi and chips at 8:00 and said he felt bad about charging us he couldn’t take out the chip and pin machine quick enough! As he was unwilling to negotiate on room cost we felt we would rather move on to Inverness which is just down the road.

Amazing lodge, very grand entrance and large rooms. Only saw one member of staff throughout our stay, he was receptionist, waiter, barman but he was absolutely brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Very limited menu for dinner but absolutely amazing food. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and again great quality. Fantastic stay

We called here for lunch when passing by and really enjoyed it. The hotel has a grand elegance about it. Service was excellent and the lunch sandwiches were fresh, well filled and well presented - suggesting that generally the standard of catering here is high. We were impressed and would like to come and stay at this hotel overnight.

An impressive lodge at Achnasheen offering full facilities and even the sight of deer in the grounds. The hotel was a welcome sight after the drive from Ullapool via the Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) which winds up to 2054 feet – in cloud in our case - and is the steepest pass in the UK. The manager was most welcoming and we happily mingled at dinner with guests from Jersey, Australia and the USA. Breakfast was extensive and, after an excellent night's rest in a stylish en-suite bedroom, we were well set to continue our journey home via Inveraray.

My father in-law and I stayed here as a stop off on the NC500. Wow, what a gem of a place. The building is a former hunting lodge. The entrance is grand with a large wooden staircase and hunting trophies on the wall, this theme continues around the hotel. We stayed in a twin room. The room had high ceilings and two very comfortable twin beds. The room was clean and very quiet. The bathroom was nicely finished and even had a jacuzzi bath, which was great for a soak after a long day driving. The lodge was without a chef when we stayed, therefore the menu was limited. However, we both had pies and chips with veg and the food was cooked nicely and delicious. We also had two lovely deserts. I have to say, although limited, the food was very good and hit the spot. Breakfast was also really good. There were cereals and continental options as well as cooked. We had cooked and it was delicious. The bar is well stocked and has a large selection of whiskies. The customer service was fantastic. The proprietor was very friendly and we had a long chat when he served us in the bar. Nothing was too much trouble. Something that is sorely missing in many places today. Overall a gem of a hotel and not to be missed, with a warm and friendly welcome. Would definitely stay again if I am back in that area.

The property is GORGEOUS! Rooms are super clean and comfy with tall working windows, chandeliers, and great shower pressure - my favorite things. The night after we checked out, we ended up STRANDED in the middle of nowhere with a flat tire. The proprietor at the property helped to get us back to safety and gave us a family suite to recover. Really, really nice people here. We are definitely coming back! PS - breakfast is delicious.

We were just driving past the lodge and dropped in on the odd chance that we might get a cup of tea. What a surprise! The atmosphere is authentic, the service professional and friendly and the morning tea delicious.
