Bonanza Addis Hotel

Airport shuttle is provided but no one responded for days in spite of me asking many times. Finally I received a response but only “thank you” I had no idea how I could spot the driver and where exactly ? After all, my driver was waiting for me at the international terminal. I had given the details of my flight but I should have added ‘DOMESTIC terminal’. I would suggest you to add internal or domestic. Thanks to another kind driver from another hotel, I could get hold of the driver of the Monarch hotel. The receptionist (only one or two) was very unfriendly and did not have strong English skills. Their attitude was very rude even when I was trying to be still calm to them. One of them was kinda ordering me what to do. It isn’t professional behavior. Hopefully management will train her more. I arranged a shuttle bus at 13:00 to go back to the airport, but departing earlier was an option too. Upon checking out, she said that there would be one guest at 12:30 so I could join the guest to go back to the airport but no one showed up and I left the hotel at 13:00 as planned initially. My initial arrangement was 13:00 so It was ok but what is going on here ?! No one showed up when the reception told me another arrangement at 12:30 for another guest ?! Is this miscommunication ? I didn’t even see the driver of the hotel at 12:30. The car was just parked outside quietly till 13:00. There was no sign of action at all. Honestly their shuttle bus service was very stressful. If you seek a smooth complimentary shuttle bus service, you should stay at another hotel. Also, upon checking in, I had to pay for the room. When I gave US$100, it was rejected just because it was an old design. I gave her a new note next but it seemed like there wasn’t enough birr for change. I tried to use a credit card instead but it was rejected because it reached the limit, which can’t be true. What is going on here ? Really stressful. After all, I used smaller notes (US bucks). I guess my CC was rejected because my card isn’t issued in Ethiopia. I always thought that hotels and airports are safe to use any credit card wherever they are issued. Room is gorgeous but some lights were already dead. Rooftop bars (and it is a breakfast place. 13&14 floors) are very modern. The angle of sunset isn’t the best but you can still enjoy it. Breakfast is served at 06:00. When I got there around 06:15, there was no one (staff) there but food was ready without drink. I liked the variety of the food. It is a really nice buffet. - Water pressure is good - Hot water shower is pretty good - Iron board - Safe - Mini bar - Huge mirror - Comfy bed ( mattress ) Right before I checked out, electricity was out constantly including wi-fi. The location isn’t good. It isn't an area where you can shop easily. There is one restaurant next to the hotel. You actually can’t walk around by yourself. It should be a more commercial area.
