What an absolutely gorgeous, quaint and traditional family run hotel. The staff were honestly exceptional. Maria who runs the office, bookings, a true gem. Incredibly friendly, great organiser and super friendly and helpful. The owners and sons and team were all so kind, generous and a real pleasure to each day, smiling and being very attentive. The grounds are kept immaculate, the pool very clean, the two ladies who cleaned were excellent. The apartment was super clean, regular cleans, regular fresh towels, cold water in the fridge on arrival and soap, shampoo in bathrooms. Hairdryer on wall. Iron, board, microwave, full oven and washing machine all superb. Dining table and crockery, pans for 6. Lovely clean white linen. It felt like a small traditional hotel/apts and the family run team make you feel very special. My children were always welcomed with big smiles and high fives. A superbly stocked shop with all the basics, milk, bread, eggs, meats, juices, beer and spirits. Treats for the children and cosmetics. Great gift options too. The beach literally a minutes walk, a stunning beach with 3 restaurants serving it. All 3 restaurants were fantastic, including the Ammoudara Beach restaurant itself. Great breakfasts, lunches and fabulous evening meals. On the beach, sea views, fresh fish, delicious seabass, sardines, seafood spaghetti, salads and much more. Superb restaurant team, Costas & Yiannis. We highly recommend. We appreciate it is not like a typical 5 star resort but it’s honestly ten times better than that in many ways. We wish the family well and we hope one day we will return - thank you for making our holiday one of the best. The Greek people are truly special. Always smiling, always helpful and very family oriented. We shall never forget our stay with you.

It was perfect for us but we did have a car. As we went for 16 days we were upgraded free of charge and given a lovely 2 bedroom apartment with a sitting area outside. The beds were comfy and it was spotlessly clean. Maria the manager was so helpful marking places on the map for us to visit and generally looking after our every need. There's a lovely sandy beach across the road with 2 fantastic Tavernas. The staff were friendly and there's a quiet swimming pool too ànd a few miles from Agios Nikolaos and Elounda. We will be back.

I've no idea why anyone would write a negative review about the fabulous "Ammoudara Beach resort'. This a beautiful place. Maria, the manager is very friendly and approachable. Maria has a lovely smile and is great at sorting out any issue (our shower had a wonky fitting when we arrived but it was fixed the same day). There was everything in our room that we needed. The bed was a decent size and comfortable. The water in the shower was hot, clean sheets and towels were regularly changed and the A/C was quiet! Everything was spotlessly clean. We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at this lovely resort, having had a wonderful and relaxing holiday. There is a good bar/snack service on the beautiful, blue flag beach which is just across the road). The beach is flat and sandy (no need to be a mountain goat here). On site, there is a useful shop and a bar (and..............................It has a decent coffee machine which is essential for my Italian husband). Across the road is an attractive, traditional Greek restaurant which overlooks the beach and has a stunning view. We felt that there was really no need to go anywhere else!

Well located place with swimming pool and 50m from the beach. Very clean place but the kitchen has the minimum of accessories to force you to eat at the hotel restaurant. Maria is very welcoming, thanks to her. The 3 cleaning ladies who are top notch and very friendly too. For the rest of the staff it's a completely different story. The servers and management are very hypocritical if you eat there you have a smile if you don't eat, it's no longer the same thing. Not even a quick hello. We ate 3 times in 15 days because we wanted to try the small, typical surrounding taverns. Well on the last day we wanted to buy a plate of vine leaves... the boss refused to sell them to us. Not expensive enough for them. Another negative point. The beach is privatized with deckchairs for the hotel and others. Well you have to eat again on site to be entitled to the deckchair. It’s a shame because the place itself is very cute. We will not return there.

Please note my opinion is only for the hotel, shops and catering site. The apartment is clean and simple (thanks to the courteous and competent housekeepers). Comfortable beds. RAS. On the other hand, you are supposed to rent a HOTEL APARTMENT. In terms of dishes, you don't have enough to cook for 4. This means that you will eat at the hotel's restaurant and bar. But unless you have a well-filled wallet it's impossible. The bill would be steep at the end of the stay. So you have to make do with what you have....And since you don't consume much, attitudes towards you are no longer sympathetic. We refuse you to buy cocktails and appetizers (tzatziki or tarama mousse etc.) to eat with your aperitif at home or in front of the magnificent swimming pool. It is neither commercial nor respectful of customers. You are a money press...To have access to the deckchairs on the beach you absolutely have to consume...otherwise the setting is magnificent, calm and relaxing. Maria at reception will advise you on sites to visit, activities etc. Thanks to her too. The "manager? Owner?" Comes across you several times a day and doesn't even bother to greet you...long live the holidays in an atmosphere like this...he lives in one of the apartments on the site. I would definitely return to Crete because it is magnificent and the food is divinely good BUT NEVER in this establishment.

As soon as we walked in we fell in love with the place! The service, cleanliness everything perfect! Maria from the reception welcomed us with her wonderful smile and we loved her. The area is very quiet, family friendly and the sea is wonderful and clean right next door. The guys from the bar and the tavern were amazing, kind and we had a great time to come again next year!

We stayed 1 night and were completely satisfied. Very nice hotel, quiet, the room was very comfortable with all amenities and in a beautiful location right across from the sea. The lady who owns it is very kind and willing to help us with anything we need.
