The reception was so friendly and helpful showed us to our room which had a beautiful sea view.room was a bit small but tidy but that wasn't an issue.staff friendly and helpful and the food was ok after the third day we went out to restaurants in roda town for a change, all inclusive drinks weak or watered down which was disappointing and served in tiny plastic cups which wasn't expected from a 5 star hotel but other than that the place is stunning and made some friends and would definitely go back

I've just spent a week at the Roda Beach Resort with my wife and my three children. We had a fantastic time, no question, but let's get the whole 5 star thing out of the way first. Yes, when it was built it probably was 5 star, but times change and things move on and now it is probably lacking as a 5 star hotel in the modern world. It is also due a bit of a cosmetic refresh in some areas but I would still say it is a very good 4 star place though. What is absolutely 5 star in my eyes are the staff who can't do enough for you and the breadth and range of facilities and activities that are on offer are truly enormous - there is something for everyone. The hotel is on the north coast of the island and we had a usual coach transfer from the airport. Allowing for picking up and dropping others off at other hotels on the way, it took 1 hour 15 minutes in both directions to get to and from the airport. I found everyone I spoke with to be charming and they couldn't do enough for us. From the hotel reception to the waiters and waitresses through to the animation team, everyone said hello and you felt like they cared. I found the range of food on offer to be both delicious and more than adequate for an all inclusive offering. The main restaurant is enormous with seemingly endless hotplates with this and that on them - the variety served simultaneously is impressive. OK, so they serve a similar menu most days and nights but there is so much choice you can have a different meal every day. There is always two types of soup, unlimited bread, a kids buffet section, a hot grill usually serving Gyros or Pork or something like that. In addition there is a a massive oven baked section, a pizza oven serving a variety of pizzas, salad bar with cheeses and cold meats, all sorts of desserts with ice cream etc. It really is quite a sight to see when it is in full flow. In addition to the main restaurant there are three smaller boutique restaurants near the beach serving Greek, Italian and Chinese cuisines but you do need to book those in advance (still part of the all inc.). Then you add to that a poolside Souvlaki bar serving Greek kebabs and chips, coffee and all types of drinks, another poolside bar serving burgers and hot dogs, a beachside bar with its own creperie and then the main Creperie and Ice Cream bar which is open between 10.30am and midnight with the same lovely guy doing a 14 hour shift - you will not be short of choice for things to eat. Those who wrote in their reviews that the food choice was limited clearly didn't explore the site enough. OK, so the one beer choice is not going to knock your spots off but I got on with it ok and seeing as it was in unlimited volume, you could do a lot worse. The 'Animation' team (read entertainment team) were really great and made the whole stay so much more of an experience. We had a champagne reception laid on by the hotel on the evening of the first night. Bobi gets a lot of mentions in the reviews and rightly

The club house was very welcoming for newcomers. First trip here, but a possible future home , we were made to feel part of the scenery. Reasonable pricing and quality drinks, we have yet to dine here , but the menu was inviting. Looking forward to a return visit . Thank you for looking after us .

Where to start? First impression and last impression? Reluctant reception staff. We paid for two rooms for five people. I asked the receptionist if we could have rooms next to each other? The answer is negative. We paid a daily tax of 10E per room per day, so I expect to be able to use all hotel services including accommodation. Unfortunately, you have to leave the room at 11 AM and you have to spend your time anywhere else until 6:30 PM. The luggage room is too small to fit all the luggage of all the departing people, so those unlucky enough to not fit in this room have to leave it in an unguarded corner. So where to spend time on the last day? Theoretically on the beach or by the pool, but you have nowhere to change, the receptionist referred us to the toilets. There is a shower, but you can't change clothes when it's dry (wet floor), and you're afraid of catching mold. I would rather see the hotel as a better three-star hotel, it is definitely not a five-star hotel. As far as I can compare, we were in one hotel in Crete, which was marked with four stars, and there it was much better, more modernly equipped rooms, in better condition and definitely better food. The hotel is long past its prime and the rooms would need major renovation. 1) It would definitely be necessary to paint the rooms and bathrooms, there are water maps on the ceiling and the paneling and the bathtub is unprofessionally plastered over. 2) In general, the equipment of the room is outdated and out of date, even an ordinary clothes dryer is missing. 3) Upholstered headboards probably haven't been cleaned since they've been there. Because there are greasy stains from the heads of the previous occupants of the rooms, which is disgusting. 4) Ants in the room, ants in the toilet. 5) In the communal toilets, the speaker, which is long dead, emits posthumous sounds instead of music. 6) The air conditioning vents in the lobby or restaurant condense heavily, so if you want to make a coffee or sit under an air conditioning vent, water will drip on you. Because of this, the vents are rusty and the plaster around them is peeling off. 7) Forget about Wifi in the room, or prepare a 50E refundable deposit for renting a router. 8) Wifi should work only in the lobby by the reception, unfortunately I rarely connected to it due to the large number of people. 9) Pools and waterslides also look better in photos than they actually are. 10) Apart from the first and last day, we had to deal with power outages here, even four times in one day. It's not very pleasant when you're sitting down to breakfast and suddenly you can't see your plate. Then you wait 3/4 hours before they start the diesel generator. The hotel is not entirely to blame for this, on the other hand, there are so many buildings here and you won't see a single solar panel on the roofs as a possible source of electricity in case of blackouts. Food: Monotonous breakfast without variation - omelets, scrambled eggs, cheap sausages, sa

Hello. There are food options which do not contain gluten available. But they don't have gluten free versions of foods which typically contain gluten e.g. bread and pasta. The hotel is great but I would make sure to specify have a room in or close to the hotel as the room at the top of the hill are a good 20 minutes walk up a steep hill away and are not very nice. We did to move rooms eventually and that was much better. Email from Tripadvisor, after purging bad reviews. This was extremely disappointing, I don’t even know where to start. Cons I want to start by saying this hotel is not 5 star, or 4 star or 3, 2 at a push. The aircon never worked. You end up spending half of your holiday going to the front desk moaning, and they promise that the ‘aircon tecnician’ will have a look and they never do so you literally cant sleep. This ruined the holiday. There is no gym other than a dirty rusty frame near the beach. Really bad We were a group of 12 and 8 of us ended up with severe food poisoning. Sickness and bad diarrhoea. The queues were too long for all food. You end up just not even bothering. The only good food place was the gyros bar but you’re waiting around 20 mins in the queue and it only opens for about 3/4 hours a day. All the drinks are essentially non alcoholic, you’re lucky if theres 1% alcohol in there. Everything is so watered down. The staff were awful in terms of helpful/politeness, although I suspect it isnt their fault. Clearly they’ve been overworked and underpaid for a long time. Pros The pool is nice and big and salt water. However getting a sunbed is almost impossible. The beach is basically private which is brilliant. Each room has a balcony. You can drink the water they give you and seems fine. I’m assuming the illness was through the food. Please just don’t waste your money. There’s nothing worse than spending thousands and being so disappointed!
