Villa Alba - Ahangama

What an amazing hidden gem and perfect place to spend our honeymoon. We had the most wonderful 5 nights at Villa Alba. Our room was stunning and had the most beautiful views. The staff were extremely attentive and accommodating and made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived and throughout our whole stay - they really couldn’t do enough for us and were always so happy and polite. The menu and food at the hotel was outstanding and always so beautifully presented. We particularly loved the pool area, comfortable sun loungers and views over the beautiful gardens and rice fields. The hotel very kindly organised a safari for us at Udawalawe National Park - this is a must when staying in Sri Lanka. A day we will remember forever. Location is peaceful and only 10 minutes from the beach. Very easy to get to by tuk tuk which the hotel very kindly organised for us during our stay. We really can’t fault anything about this hotel. We really hope to return in the future will be recommending it to all of our friends. If you are considering booking Villa Alba please don’t think twice, you won’t regret it! Our second stay here. Everything is perfect. It’s peaceful and beautiful and the rooms are incredible comfortable. The staff are excellent led by the very efficient manager Tharu and we had the best massage from Sampath… highly recommend. It is a bit outside Ahangama - - easy to get a Tuk into town or the beach - but we like being able to escape the noise afterwards and Villa Alba with its views over Paddi fields provides exactly that. And the rice comes for the delicious meals they produced for us comes from those paddi fields !! You can’t go wrong booking this place. We can’t wait to return!

We loved our 2 week stay at Villa Alba, a cosy yet luxurious villa tucked away among the rice paddies of the Sri Lankan south coast. It is close to the beach/town (a short tuk tuk ride) with plenty of adventure activities and day trips nearby (shopping, surfing, safari, tea plantations etc.). Or you can enjoy the peace and quiet while lying by (or floating on) the beautiful infinity pool. The staff made our stay easy, comfortable and relaxing. The food by chef Krishan was a highlight, and Kalana and his front of house team saw to our every need. Rooms are clean, spacious and modern with great amenities and stunning views. We will definitely be back!

I stayed for a week with my two adult daughters in July 2024. The stay was the perfect way to wind down after a busy working period. The setting in the lush green rice paddies, architecture of the Villa and design of the shared areas and spacious rooms is just exquisite. The staff at Villa Alba could not do enough for us, whether that be cooking us delicious meals, arranging transport and day trips or checking on us to provide drinks to keep us hydrated whilst we lazed by the beautiful pool and watched the monkeys in the trees. My elder daughter is quite a fussy eater but the chefs at Alba accommodated her every request. We had an excursion to the tea plantation, the town of Galle and the safari elephant sanctuary arranged for us and every detail was taken care of including a packed breakfast for our very early departure to the elephant sanctuary. A blissful week was had by us all and we are just looking for an opportunity to get back there as soon as possible. .

We booked the entire villa for our family of 6 (including adult children). It proved a perfect choice because we all had plenty of independent space, as well as communal living and dining areas (and of course the pool). The architecture and style of the villa is superb, and we loved the outlook across the rice fields. Service was faultless and the food excellent. We stayed for 7 nights and didn't tire of the menu. The only downside was that getting transport to/from the beach or Galle proved a little tricky (compounded by the fact there was 6 of us). We tried taxis, tuk tuks and PickMe - with mixed success.
