We have been holidaying at this hotel for 12 years, sometimes 2-3 visits a year. We have visited with family and as a couple and have always been well looked after. This was our third visit this year and can not praise ALL staff highly enough for the service they provide. All previous visits and my review of them have been highly positive and was the reason we have returned so often. Sadly our last couple of visits have seen subtle changes made by the management team which has resulted in losing that attention to detail which made this hotel 5 star. Changes like removing wine and water from the dining tables, the lose of linen napkins and the latest change was made to the snack bar menu reducing the choice available significantly and while I appreciate this is a business I am sure there are other cost saving exercises. Familiar faces has always been a big plus for the hotel and gave a feeling of returning home, some of these faces are missing which is to me a huge loss to us and the hotel. In my previous review I and other people who visited around the same time commented on the experience of the cabanas and comments from the hotel were that they would look at restoring the tranquility on the pier but this has not happened. Lastly the long awaited hotel refurb appears to have been delayed again, for the third time I think. Unfortunately this will be our last visit to Liberty Lara, it saddens me to say this, but the hotel is no longer paradise to me.

The location is good but without a beachfront, the suite is clean and spacious, the food was good, different menu every day. Facilities were also good, the staff were excellent, very friendly very cooperative.

Fantastic hotel, rooms are spacious with cold drinks and beers within the fridge for your arrival. Plenty of space to hang clothes up as well as drawer space. Teas and coffee is available. Balcony was a good size can seat four people comfortably. Beautiful views from the balcony if you request an ocean view. Bathroom was good size and showers are good. Food quality and choice is great different theme each night and the snack bars for lunch beside poolside is great. Premium drinks on offer and did not need to pay extra.. waiters are on roller skates. Never had an issue with getting a sun lounger.. loads of pool space. Hotel location to organise pick up tours too and close to the shops and bars around the area.. would recommend. There is also a stage arena for entertainment as well as a sea bar lounge for further options too. Recommend this hotel!!!

We are very aware we have visited out of season and knew what facilities were and weren't available. However....5 star rating definitely needs a review. Just to note, the hotel operates a convention centre and holds a lot of conferences during winter months. A lot of people attending the conference bring families along so they can have an influx of 1000-2000 people for a couple of days at a time. This puts a huge strain on the staff as they didn't introduce any more staff to cope with the extra bodies so service really does suffer. It also gives a family holiday a very formal and corporate vibe with about 80% -90% guests being here on business. And there is definitely a cold approach from the people here on business towards the people who have paid for a holiday. The mix really isn't right. The rooms are lovely and spacious. However the fridge wasn't filled everyday. And you need to bring atravel iron or steamer as the hotel don't hire out irons in case you damage anything in the room. Theres a great choice of food. At the start of the week, meal times were fine. Towards the end of the week when the conferences were ramped up, meal times were horrendous. Literally adults pushing kids out of the way to get to food. And the kitchen staff couldn't keep up with the demand on food. Lots of empty bowls and waiting around for things to cook or be replenished. This also impacted the patisserie in the late afternoon- you cant take food out but every time we went towards the end of the week, there wasn't a single free table. Although the hotel has no smoking signs and designated smoking areas, a lot of areas indoors smell of smoke, especially certain areas of the restaurant. There was a persistent smell of cigarettes in the corridor outside our room as well. We had numerous occasions there were fire alarms going off in the corridors on and off all night. When we spoke to reception and guest relations, they said it's people smoking in their rooms who shouldn't be and theres nothing they can do. I very much sound a hotel this big doesn't have fire alarm technology to pinpoint the location of an alarm and warn the people in that room they could get a charge added to to room for smoking in it. The 'outdoor heated pool open November - March' was not open. The indoor pool was open but very cold. You couldn't stay in long. The bar staff and wsiters and waitresses were always very friendly and helpful. When then weren't pulled out, they'd refill drinks before you finished and made an effort to remember what your normally ordered. Towards the end of the week, it was very much self service and water only in the restaurant as there just wasn't enough people to see to all the tables WiFi - free WiFi in the hotel, however it seems to disconnect you every hour or so and make you reconnect. I don't know whether it's poor connection or with so many users. Shops within the hotel are very handy but please be aware the minimarket is VERY expensive

The area, swimming pools, water park, children's club are super. The food is average for five, no frills. Umbrellas on the beach are purely symbolic, they hardly shade
