Hotel Kjarnalundur- Aurora Dream - Lodges and Rooms

This hotel is… a hotel. Nothing very special. It’s located near the woods, which is nice, and offers a good view from the window. The room is small and not very comfortable, but we stayed there for one night, so we just made do. If you are staying for more than one night in that area, then I recommend finding something else.

Located about 3km from town of Akureyri , slightly uphill , thus provide a scenic view of the mountain range and a woodland behind the hotel. It was end of winter and the ground is still covered in snow. And it snowed slightly around 2am. Nice , clean , comfy room . Love the lobby with comfy settee and great lovely decor. A bar & coffee / reception with a pretty sweet lady . The hotel is also a site to view the Northern lights but weather was not right tonight. Highly recommend for family with kids 👌 👍

For Iceland s second city expected the three star Hotel to be of a higher standard . The one in Laugarbakki - a much smaller place was nicer. having said that , the room was comfortable, the Hotel had many rooms, the breakfast was adequate and the service good enough

We stayed in the cottages which were super private and cute. Jacuzzi but too cold to use. Finding the cottages was difficult as the directions given was not clear but the lady in the front was super nice to drive and escort us to the cottages as it is away from the main hotel. One negatives we had was the place had way too many flies. I spent the night trying to kill flies as I can hear them flying around me. Def great for groups of people. There were 3 of us and we each had our own private decent size rooms. Full kitchen and living room but due to the flies we did not hang out there much. Oh and it took forever to figure out how to lock the doors,...you have to bring the handle up to lock with the key. Was finally able to see the Northern Lights here probably too b/c it was super dark away from the city. This place is 30 mins away from the beer bath and this is why we stayed here. Just a few mins drive away from Akureyri city. Overall I would stay here again with groups of friends due to the size and location of the place. Hopefully by then they would fix the fly problems.

Excellent service. We booked the wrong date, but they assisted in getting it re-booked. The man that helped us was very nice. He also carefully explained about the facilities such as the hot tub, sauna, breakfast and more. All in all, a great stay.
