We had a wonderful holiday in Alghero, with much of that owing to the comfort and warmth of the Hotel Calabona. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff are happy, understanding and friendly and were very accommodating when we approached them with a room query, which was only down to our own personal preference and not an issue with the accommodation at all. Rooms are equipped with all the usual mod-cons. USB ports, smart TV and the beds are very comfy. The facilities have recently been updated and modernised and so many of the photos attached pre-date the refurbishment. The food and refreshments are great. Varied with seasonal choices. It’s quiet, despite current building works in the surrounding area, which did not affect the peace at all, whether it was early morning or during the day. It’s far enough away from the old town to warrant a very leisurely and picturesque 20 minute stroll along the coast, or at peak times they offer a mini bus back and forth. From 1-3pm and from 6-11:30pm. Very handy. Their policy in peak season to ensure sun-beds cannot be reserved with towels for vast periods of the day, keep things fair and we were lucky enough to stay before things began to ramp up, so were able to enjoy the serenity of pool area and get a little rowdy in the pool too. Overall, we had such a lovely and welcoming stay at the Calabona and would highly recommend.
