White River Motel

Great motel. Very clean and modern. Felt like I was staying in a modern hotel and not a road side motel. Staff was friendly. Four starts (wish I could do 4 3/4) only simply because they didn’t offer breakfast as their restaurant doesn’t open until 11, but very understandable as every one is short staffed.

The power went down in the morning so no wifi, no air conditioning, showering in the dark (thankfully hot water still worked). The price was about $133 but they only offered a $20 refund. Sink and bathroom were unclean upon arrival. Smelled of a strong scented product.

Stayed here for one night in September. Convenient location if passing through on a road trip. Our room was located in a separate building from the two storey walk up motel. The separate building contains a few units and is all access via ground level which was convenient for our loading/unloading. Room amenities in good condition. Managegment is courteous and helpful.

Did the trip from northwestern Ontario to Ottawa area and stopped here for the half way overnight stop. Owner/manager was very friendly and accommodating (I didn’t know I showed up 30 mins after they close their office for the night and apologized profusely for waking him up). Check in and out was very easy. Room was clean, comfortable, and they allowed dogs. The motel is also very secure and right next to Robin’s for your morning breakfast needs. I would definitely recommend and will stay here again if I’m ever in the area.

A thank you to Dwijen and Kishan. We pulled in to White River Motel on a very cold night this winter. I noticed the clerk/owner was dealing with a very neurotic customer on the phone very kindly. Unflustered, he helped us settle into what turned out to be a warm, clean and quiet room. He didn't mind that we plugged our electric car in overnight. There was an extra powder room/kitchenette which is always nice. In the morning, we forgot our box of electronics including my Macbook! By the time we realized it, we were hundreds of miles away. I need not have worried, these folks treat their customers with respect and honesty. They took care of it, and sent me the parcel at their expense. Very sweet.

About once a year we end up in a situation where we start our day too far west in Manitoba to make it all the way to Sault. We've stayed at a couple different spots between Terrace Bay and Wawa. This was the first time we'd ever stayed at the White River Motel. While not spectacular, we would definitely stay here again in the future. The room wasn't the fanciest, but it was definitely the cleanest of all the places we stayed at on this trip. The man at the desk was courteous and helpful. We stayed in the one of the 2 Queen rooms in the annex. Tub/shower and toilet were separate from the bathroom sink, which is handy when you have 4 people in the room. The sitting chair in our room left a bit to be desired, but the beds, desk, tv, fridge, and everything else were fine. Since the Motel is right near the highway, there is some noise, but not overwhelming. Subway, Robin's and A&W are fairly close. If you show your motel receipt, you get 10% off at the Subway next door.
