4 Epoches Hotel

We arrived back on 10th July from a holiday that we'll always remember due to the fact that the staff were always there for you and would cater for anything you asked for with no trouble. We arrived on the 26th June after a 4 hour flight and a two hour ferry trip to get to the island as the nearest airport is Skiathos. We were in holiday mode as soon as we got on the ferry, taking in the sights of neighbouring island Skopelos and sailing past the church featured in Mama Mia which was a surprise to my partner (a big Abba fan!) We were very warmly greeted at 4 Epoches by the young Anastasia and Nikos who were so helpful from the start. Our room was as we expected, exceptionally clean and just what you expect in a proper Greek resort. The air con was spot on and the bed was really comfy (split into two single that pushed together easily with no issues). The rooms were cleaned daily which is a first for us on a Greek island and the standards were high. Breakfast was excellent which included the following: Bacon, sausages, scrambled egg, fried egg, fresh tomatoes, cheese pies, croissants, ham, feta, honey, peaches, watermelon, assorted jams, toast, the lot. Enough variety for any moaning critic. We met the lovely Anna who was the face of the hotel and was the visual head of running the place as she was doing everything for everyone and was a great person to turn to for any advice about the island. The pool was alway quiet at most times and was the perfect size to relax in and out when it was really hot (which it was) and the temperature was perfect. Steni Vala itself was a quiet little boat port with some nice tavernas / restaurants to eat and drink in whilst watching the boats and yachts go in and out, counting the different flags from different nations and enjoying watching the people and locals going about their daily routines. Special shouts out go the the excellent Sossinola and their excellent family run restaurant who were so kind and even gave me a Mythos glass to take home on our last day. The food and service was amazing. Also neighbouring restaurant To Fanari with their fresh fish being brought in daily. We even watched a Grouper Fish being caught, scraped and gutted in front of us which was a sight to be seen! Excellent food again. The small supermarket stocked everything we needed and we even watched the Euro Football in their cafe bar on a couple of occasions with a great set of people. There were two lovely beaches within 20 minutes walking distance (for able walkers), one in particular Agios Petros being really quiet and peaceful and in the other direction the Suelto Beach Bar which was very friendly. If you want to get around the island and visit remote areas you can hire a car from the excellent Sporades Rent A Car which is next to the Ikion Cafe Bar up a small alleyway next to the diving centre. My Mum and Step dad visited this hotel during a stay this month and were incredibly well looked after by the staff. Unfortunately they suffered from sun stroke whilst on holiday and the staff at the hotel went above and beyond to look after them, including driving them to a doctor and serving them food not even on the menu. Truly exceptional customer service and a lovely hotel.

4 Epoches is the most delightful find! It is everything we look for in a Greek island hotel. It has a lovely setting, is well cared for, and provides excellent service. The rooms are a decent size and have all the facilities you could need to enjoy a restful holiday. The staff are all very friendly and helpful: Katerina, Jack, the room service lady... but actually everyone - even those whose names we don't know. If you need a peaceful, laid back holiday in a delightful environment, then 4 Epoches is the place for you! A big thank you to everyone, following a wonderful holiday. We spent a comfortable and relaxing two-week holiday in this delightful hotel. The location is excellent: a short walk to the tavernas and beautiful harbour of Steni Vala, whilst the lovely Glyfa Beach is nearby. It was good for strolls to admire the lush forest and endless olive groves as well as bus trips into Patitiri and the old Chora. We had an upstairs room with a balcony, giving us a good view. The pool is fine, if slightly shallow.

A wonderful hotel, situated in the quiet part of Alonissos despite Steni Vala being the second largest settlement on the island. Do not expect lunches after 1.30, and outside bar service or dinner at any time. Don't worry there is an indoor bar. Nearest restaurant is 1/3rd mile away downhill - you have been warned - but the service and food are excellent and you have to judge how hungry you are because they are large portions. Can advertise this as it is the same family as Tesseris Epochs. Do expect cleanliness to a high standard, a warm welcome, helpful reception staff (Katerina and Giorgos) whose English will cope with the safe does not open, or what time are we leaving - for Jet2 tours and Olympic holidays that can be any time between 3.45 and 5.45 AM. Expect comfortable beds and large bedroom and bathroom, and air conditioning (free) followed by a very good breakfasts, thanks Philipo. We have booked for next year 2024, arriving June 17th and hopefully we get get Room 105 again - hotel please note, efharisto. There are only two bus services to Patitiri (island capital) at 14.20 and 16.40. There is no return using the latter bus although there are expensive taxis in the town. Cost is E1.80 per person and cards can be used. The only trips from Steni Vala are those going diving and/or swimming (Ixion trips). Plenty of walking if it is not too hot, or you have mobility problems like me. Thanks also to Nicos and Julia for making the holiday so special.

If you want relaxing paradise then you have come to the right place. It is a 20 minute drive from the Port of Patitiri. You receive a warm welcome on your arrival at the hotel. All rooms are overlooking the pool, which has plenty of sun loungers and shade. Our room was a good size with a fireplace (for the winter no doubt!), wooden beams in the ceiling, a dressing table, table and chair, large wardrobe and good bathroom (can't flush the paper!). The balcony was big, with table and two chairs and space for any washing. The hotel is spotless. There is an inside dining room (snacks available during the day) and an outside covered area. A lounge with a bar downstairs and another in the open upstairs, with wonderful views. There is a small gym in the basement. The breakfasts are good with a selection of cereals, fresh orange drink, Greek yogurt, fruit and pastries, bread/toast and jam, cheese and a small selection of hot food (bacon, sausages, fried and scrambled eggs). The very small village has a harbour with fishing boats and charters and is quite busy. It is the foodie place on the island with 6/7 good restaurants/cafes by the waterfront. A short walk is a pebble beach with chairs and parasols, seating areas and a quaint cafe. There is only 1 bus a day to the main port. If you want a totally chilled out holiday and a good hotel then you have come to the right place. Sorry to leave.
