This is a fabulous hostal in the heart of beautiful Alora. My room was quiet & comfortable with a lovely view of the Arabic Castle. There is a bus stop very close, providing easy access to the fabulous Caminito del Rey. Excellent value for money.

What a gem, lovely clean hostal comfortable beds and private bathroom everything was really great. Even had a fridge in the room. Cold drinks available at reception which believe me you will need after the walk up if you come by train, it's only 1km but it's a steep walk. Close to everything and view of Arab castle from Juliette balcony. breakfast 5 e lovely coffee croissant and bread and preserves and fresh juice can have in the dining room or your room well worth it. Paco and Monica are lovely hosts would highly recommend to anyone staying in Alora .

We had to extend our stay a number of times (as our flat in Malaga was being refurbished) and Monica and her husband were so accommodating each time. Super clean rooms, great air-conditioning and fantastic views from the terraces. Highly recommend and great value-for-money.

Hostal Duran is in a great location-if you are arriving by train, the local minibus (€1.55) takes you to the main square which is just steps away from the Hostal. Alternatively, the caminito to the station is very close by and a nice walk down the hill. Dia supermarket (and Mercadona) are in easy walking distance as are many bars and restaurants. Strolling round the castle is a real highlight. Paco and Monica were very welcoming to the quaint hostal set in a 200 year old building. The whole place is immaculately clean with comfortable beds, great WiFi, a/c and even a fridge. Check in and check out times were also great. We asked for a top floor room and the view was AMAZING. The only disappointment was that pigeons were roosting on the roof and despite the terrace being cleaned every day, we felt we couldn’t use it as the bird poo (including broken eggs) was awful.

We chose this Hostal based on great previous reviews and were not disappointed. The views from the terrace are absolutely spectacular and worth the stay alone. The family running the place are super friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. Rooms are basic but very comfortable with good air con, shower and bed, and even a fridge. There are lots of nice restaurants in close proximity, we loved La Sede.

The rooms are generally comfortable although they need some repair, but no guest will feel out of home, since the attention is exquisite and helpful. Its location in the town is ideal and its view of the castle is spectacular.

We booked one night in this hostel to do the Caminito del Rey the next day, the truth is that we are looking for something cheap for a single night, but I am writing this opinion because we were pleasantly surprised by this accommodation, it has a perfect location, it is managed by a Charming host, the rooms are spacious, some with a terrace and views of the Arab Castle and in addition to all this the cleanliness is exquisite, 100% recommended.

We were at this establishment in June 2022 for 2 nights to do the "Caminito del Rey". Very nice 2-story private house, with its small history, transformed into a hostel. Run by the family, very friendly and attentive. Small room with a balcony overlooking the street but with everything essential considering its use. Correct and very clean bathroom. It must be taken into account that these are the rooms in the house adapted for guests. Located in the center, it is best to leave your car in the free public parking at the entrance to the town, about 250m away. I would surely repeat this accommodation.
