Jufa Hotel Altenmarkt-Zauchensee

Upsides: - Our room was in line with the advertised photo. - Facilities for ski storage and ski boots. - Close to the main street with some good restaurants and shops. Downsides: - High noise from neighboring rooms - in our case by drunken youngsters during night. Additional comments: - Limited parking space at the hotel, we had to park 200m away and use temporary parking for loading skis and luggage.

First the positives. Great location and just a short walk from Altenmarkt town centre. Clean, tidy and good sized rooms. Unfortunately the negatives. The staff were not friendly or accommodating at all. Unprofessional and poorly trained. I asked for an additional pillow as the single ones provided were too thin. Three of us in the room and they could only find one additional pillow! Breakfast was ok, but the staff just did not monitor the stock levels and let things just run out (good job we were flexible). Ran out of juice, ran out of tea bags, bread rolls, bacon, sausages…in fact most things ran out and there was a delay in replenishing! We played table tennis one night. You get the bats and ball from reception and they ask for €20 deposit which is fine. The equipment was passed across in a bag…on taking the equipment from the bag we noticed one bat was broken. Within a minute of being given the equipment we returned to reception to let them know one of the bats was broken . They tried to accuse of breaking the bat….which was unbelievable as we had one just been given the bag with the equipment. On check out one of the others in our party was accused of putting a hole in the wall….covering it with a picture including a screw and raw plug to put the picture up….again unbelievable as we were on a ski trip and not a DIY trip bringing tools and equipment with us! They tried to charge €150. This accusation of course left a bad taste. Final point. We asked if it would be possible to use the spa area to take a shower as we would be skiing on our final morning with a late afternoon flight. Originally they said they would be able to accommodate and then when we returned from the slopes they said no! Not the customer service level that we have come to expect in this ski region….it will be very unlikely that I will stay again in this hotel.

In my opinion this is an upgrade of the French Formula 1 road side motels. It's more luxurious but still a basic hotel. For me the value for money was out of balance. Also considering that the parking space right in front of the hotel was completely filled. We could park for free about 50 meters from the entrance. Not so convenient with a lot of luggage. Breakfast was okay, but it wasn't charming to see that the hot sausages did not come out of a pan but were poured from a plastic washing up bowl.

The hotel had no extra pillows as they had in the room one per bad extra soft and as the hotel was full they had not enough to give second one which was not satisfied for us so we had to buy 2 peaces in the store and spend extra 70 EUR as the staff was not ready to find something even next day. There was also not enough parking space from the hotel side maybe 1/3 for the whole hotel capacity which is very negative so we had to spend every day at least 20 minutes to find somewhere else as the most parking lots in the town are private. The breakfast was standard good, rooms clean even that one day the room was forgotten from the cleaning service to be cleaned.

Stayed there for skiing weekend. Hotel has good location close to slopes in Flachau, is very clean, big family room. Very frindly staff, nice sauna part of this hotel. Delicious breakfast and very good dinner.

Its very nice hotel for skiers with big, renovated rooms and all necessary facilities as skies storage and skiing boots dryers. Closest big skiing resource is Zauchesee, 15 min away by car. Parking is beside hoel. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast and dinner are good, served as self-service. My kids enjoy sporty facilities as basketball/handball indoor sport field, table tennis.
