Charming hotel, was previously a convent, spacious confortable rooms and large living rooms, as well as conference rooms, service always with a smile, a cool rooftop from where I took the outdoor photos overlooking Alter and surronding countryside.

After ride 700 km on motorcycle from Santander to Alter, when arriving in Convento d'Alter the reception can't be better. Nuno Quina in the reception, a great and friendly professional don't want let me carry my bags to my room, after give me a guided visit In the hotel I be very impressed. They prep me some snacks in the bar, what is really good after 700km in temperatures around 35°C. In the evening the barman José Castelinho, very friendly and professional give advice about the best restaurants around. Amazing environment in the hotel the stuff have very high standards with the costumers. Better is impossible. The conditions of my room, swimming pool, private parking are stunning. Definitely I recommend this place without hesitation. Great time I had in my two weeks in the hotel.

Fantastic hotel in a historic building. Very impressive and cosy inside. Nice room. Cosy bar and launch. Swimmingpool with great view. Own Terra’s with great view. Romantic common rooms. Great entrance

Old-fashioned but comfortable and clean hotel. My room had a very beautiful view. The reception staff are very friendly and available to help and/or resolve any questions. Breakfast, nothing extraordinary, but reasonable. Less positive point: Soundproofing of the rooms. There was some noise from one room to another. It also didn't help that around 11pm, several families arrived with small children running through the corridors from room to room and screaming. The adults themselves, with the bedroom doors open, spoke loudly from room to room, mine being in the middle. I had bad luck with neighboring guests. This is not the hotel's fault; It's a lack of adult education.

Too high value for the hotel. We paid €130 for one night, in a hotel that no longer has any trace of 4 stars. It needs urgent renovation and improvement in cleaning. Bathrooms and rooms with few amenities and signs of heavy use. Weak breakfast for the price charged.

Located right in the center of the town, very helpful staff and spacious rooms. Offer of welcome drink was a plus. We heard background noise all night coming from the pool, which didn't allow us to have a peaceful night. The rooms already need to be renovated and the cleaning done. The place is very beautiful and the staff are friendly and very helpful. A little difficult to access for someone lacking mobility but that's the only downside. The young man at reception came to deliver us a tray with some fruit and some biscuits….nice gesture! Superb lunch with a very attentive server.
