The Market Hotel

Half Term day out to the Watercress Line and the Market Hotel was a 15 minute walk from the station. We were on a surprise day out with our 8 year-old great nephew. From our booking to the welcome, we could not have been better looked after. Woody and Dave were so thoughtful and kind. There was a cosy open fire. Great range of options on the menu, all well priced. What stood out was the cheerfulness of the guys who looked after us, especially brilliant with junior and made it memorable with the sparkling birthday pudding. Thanks

Decided to pop in for a Sunday roast and we were not disappointed. On arrival we were made to feel welcome. I had roast beef with all the trimmings, which was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. It was a nice relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. I will definitely be recommending to everyone.

Visit on Sunday with our neighbours and was all of our first visit and it won’t be our last. Firstly on arrival we were told to sit down and our drinks order would be taken, this was the case and the drinks arrived quickly. We were all given the Sunday roast menu which had a fist option too and the choice of I believe three meats, on the menu it states you can have a mixture of meats at no extra cost which was a nice touch. The meal arrived with a decent amount of meat, roast potatoes, stuffing ball some veg and a huge Yorkshire pudding. Then two bowls of veg arrived for four adults which was plenty. All of us stated how good the meal was and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, brought more gravy when we asked and even offered us more veg which was lovely but we did not need it. The prices for the roast was good too and considering how much we enjoyed the meal you can’t beat the price. Beer prices are reasonable too, all in all we will definitely visit again.

What a wonderful Christmas Day we spent here with friends! Our 5 course -Christmas lunch was perfection . The staff were brilliant considering the amount of people in attendance , maintaining a smile and air of calmness at all times. And of course, Stacey the landlord, brilliant as per usual! A great pub to eat and drink and be merry . Thank you all!

We recently booked for the Markets Christmas fayre meal meal, with a few friends. From start to finish, we were looked after. The table was set up beautifully. With prosecco on arrival, the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Attentive, without being "too much." The food was served hot and delicious, I had the veg soup, which was served with warm bread and was delicious. The mains were so good. They even provided us with Yorkshire puds (which wasn't on the menu, but i may have mentioned how much i like them with my roast) and extra roast spuds. Nothing was too much. The cheesecake for pudding was amazing, It was so light and fluffy 😋 Will definitely be back. Hats of to all the amazing staff. You are all brilliant 👏

Not our first choice for lunch on Saturday but what a stroke of good luck our first choice let us down. My wife two sons and myself enjoyed the great welcome by the young lady behind the bar who looked after us really well. The food and service was great and we were all more than happy with the lunch experience, so much so that we managed to book for the next days Sunday lunch. Different staff but again we found her welcoming, pleasant and efficient. The roast dinner was exceptional and plenty of it, compliments to the chef. We would without a doubt recommend the Market Hotel for food.
