Foxghyll Country House

Foxghyll country house was a perfect getaway. We were delighted to arrive at such a fabulous b&b in beautiful gardens. The house is full of history and our room was tranquil and we slept so well. The breakfasts set us up for our days of adventure. Ideally located for the lakes and Ambleside. The proprietors were so friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to another visit.

Beautiful country house in a most picturesque setting. Large, well-kept gardens with plenty of areas to sit and enjoy the stunning scenery. Rooms are clean, well-appointed and spacious. Rachel and Paul are the most thoughtful of hosts and work very hard to ensure their guests have the best experience, including preparing rather fabulous breakfasts! With direct access onto Loughrigg Fell and an easy stroll into Ambleside, this is a real gem.

Accommodating hosts, exceptional service and an impeccable environment (inside and out). My daughter absolutely loved the well behaved chihuahuas. My wife took full advantage of the health & beauty services. We will definitely be staying again.

What a beautiful B&B! We have always stayed in cottages or hotels when staying in the Lakes so this was a first for us......Will not be the last for sure. We had a lovely 3 night break over Easter, Paul & Rachel made us feel completely at home in their home. We stayed in the Garden Room, which was super clean and very comfortable. The breakfast each morning was delicious, home cooked and plenty of choice to set you up for the day. The location was perfect, we didn't touch the car during our stay until we left, all the walks were accessible from the house, or walking into Ambleside to get public transport to other areas of the Lakes. One absolute bonus was Rachel's beauty room, I had a fantastic massage. Rachel is very professional and offers lots of beauty treatments, this Guest house just keeps giving. We will not hesitate to return for a home from home experience with lovely welcoming hosts. Thank you Paul & Rachel M & P

This was our second visit to this incredibly welcoming hotel with a gap of several years between visits. It's still just as good, if not better. Love the location (lovely 15min walk into Ambleside with amazing views). We loved the room (Lots of little personal touches that made all the difference). Loved the fact that you could walk straight through the garden and up onto Loughrigg Fell. Loved the breakfasts. Loved that Rachel is now offering a full range of beauty and therapeutic massage treatments (I tried the massage which was good value, very professional and it worked wonders). Loved the family feel. Loved the chiwawas. Just a great place to relax.

We had a lovely stay at Foxghyll. We stayed in the 4-poster room which overlooked the garden and Wansfell. The room was spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was delicious too - everything from croissants to homemade fresh fruit salad and an excellent cooked breakfast, what a way to start the day! After a day on the fells there is the option of having a cool beer from the bar/lounge area in front of a roaring fire or there is even the option of a beauty room (which my wife took full advantage of) massages, facials and manicures were available. We've stayed in many B&B's and I have never seen this before. I can't recommend Foxghyll enough, I know we'll be back to stay next year. Just perfect guys, keep up the excellent work.
