We traveled as a family with two older teenagers. We had one bungalow and my daughters had a separate room in the main house. The setting is beautiful and extremely peaceful and the standard of accommodation is amazing. The staff go above and beyond on every occasion, offering hospitality at the highest standard. I now know what it feels like to be royalty! The food is delicious and the restaurant manager went out of his way to make food for my very ‘picky’ daughter who loved everything she was given. We did the boat safari and meeting the Vedda people both of which were first class tours and highly recommended. The massage is extremely reasonable and the best I’ve ever had in my 52 years, an absolute must after a long day. I really can’t recommend this luxury resort enough, we stayed for 2 nights but it definitely wasn’t long enough.

This accommodation was a pleasant surprise at how luxurious it was. We only stayed here one night but wished we stayed more. The site has a small number of rooms but two large pools. It also has a lakefront aspect and views across the lake. We explored Gal Oya national park from the site - travelling on a boat safari. The boat safari was amazing but I think what will stay in our minds will be watching the sunrise from the lake jetty as the birds were noisily waking up. The restaurant was excellent - although it didn’t have a liquor licence yet (which was actually a good thing as the smoothies were awesome).

In 50 years of travelling the world and seven trips to Sri Lanka this is one of the most beautiful, peaceful,glorious locations ever. The photographs do not do it justice. Our A/C glamping tent overlooking the lake and close to one of the two beautiful swimming pools, offered us total luxury with a camping feel. The attention to detail throughout and the charming staff all added to our experience. The food was simple but tasty and cheap. Our lake safari most enjoyable although despite seeing some elephants we did not see them swimming. Next time maybe. Thank you to everyone. Yes the access road is long and a little difficult and your driver or taxi driver needs to be forewarned. But the reward at the end is magnificent. A little bit of heaven on earth.

My wife and I picked this place mainly to do the activities around the area (Nilgala Jungle Safari and Inginiyagala Boat Safari). Until we arrived at the hotel, we had no idea how beautiful and peaceful the place is. Initially, we had booked only for 2 nights. We decided to extend the stay and spend the anniversary day at this place. The bunglow (Lotus) we stayed is right in front of the lake "Ali Oluwa". You could spend hours looking at the lake, not just from the porch, they have arranged a few places in the premises facing the lake. The room was very spacious and clean. Had all the amenities needed. The food was very delicious and had many varieties to choose from. The staff were exceptional, attentive, friendly, and genuinely committed to making our stay memorable. Special thanks to Shan and Chamara for going above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience. We really would recommend this place to anyone who loves nature and tranquility.

We had a fantastic stay at the Gal Oya Lake Club. All the staff were extremely professional and welcoming. The owner invited us to his son’s birthday and treated us like family. The location is beautiful just by the lake. There is an incredible infinity pool (actually two pools) in the middle of a beautiful garden and even an open air but covered gym facility. The bungalows and the deluxe tents are superbly furnished and equipped and they have a very professional masseur on site. I can only recommend this unique place.

Spacious, comfortable room with large bathroom and lovely terrace. There are two pools for about 14 to 16 guests and the one near our room was large and overlooked the lake. The lake is lovely. You can watch the birds from platforms they have built. The one criticism is the food. The hotel is not near any good restaurants so we needed to eat there in the evening. The food could be much improved. The prawns were tasteless and the dosa was a thick pancake. Breakfast was fine but not as good as at other hotels, where a buffet was offered. The coffee needs improving. The hotel is ideally located for the boat safari in the national park. We did this at 6.30am and it was superb. Elephants, crocodiles, a huge snake...as well as beautiful birds.

I stayed here in one of the bungalows, which was spacious , elegantly furnished and decorated. All three bungalows face the lake and are right next to one of the two pools. The whole site is amazingly beautiful and well taken care of. The owners, Thomas and Dinesh, made me feel heartily welcome and the staff was very attentive, polite and friendly. The place offers yoga mats and a newly opened outdoor gym to the guests. From there I watched a white pelican swimming across the lake during my workout. This remote spot is the perfect place to enjoy untouched nature and nourish your soul, absolutely recommendable. I will definitely come back on my next journey.

Fabulous place. This is a tranquil, beautiful place to unwind. Off the beaten track but a gem of a find. We couldn’t fault the complex. Small amount of accommodation in various forms. We stayed in a safari tent over looking a large lake full of wildlife. Lovely pool. Kayaking on the lake if you like. Food excellent and service outstanding. Staff went out of their way to help us when we had a small problem. Happily recommend without any hesitation.
