Analamanga Hotels with Pools

I was traveling for work, and the first part of my trip was pretty good. The staff were friendly and helpful, and even found me a doctor when I got sick one evening. The breakfast was excellent. Wifi was pretty reliable. But it was a loud hotel. Initially there was some construction going on outside the window of my room, so even when my room got a bit stuffy it was hard to keep the window open long because of the noise. Then later in the week there were about 200 young athletes staying in the hotel and it descended into chaos. It's a really well-located hotel, and so you may still choose to stay. If you find it too loud, I recommend walking around the corner to Paradise Restaurant (actually I recommend this anyway!) the atmosphere is a peaceful buzz of excitement and the food is delicious!!

Establishment without supervision. The boss or manager?? Invisible. The day of arrival, impeccable dinner. The next day disaster. A ginger steak without ginger and unspeakable, acceptable flambés. But two hours for that. There were only 7 people in the restaurant. The reason given: The chef was not there. And above all, the hotel is located in a HIGH RISK place in the evening, access by 4x4 otherwise you do not arrive. Almost a kilometer of road. I have stayed ２ times so far. Although it is an old hotel, the location is good and you can be satisfied with the hotel services such as breakfast, sports gym and spa. However, at midnight, the hotel staff had invaded with the key. At 2:30 midnight from August 19th to 20th, 2023, a male hotel staff used the key to enter the room with a woman. When I yelled, they hurried out, and for a while they were quarreling in the hallway, and then the staff called, ”I'm sorry I opened it because I thought it was an empty room.” The next day I went to the front desk to complain, but it was not reported and it seemed to be erased among the staff. So far there is no official apology from the hotel. Those who stay should put chairs or suitcases in front of the door and be careful not to physically open the door. I have stayed here twice now. Although it is an older hotel, hotel services such as breakfast, gym, and spa are satisfactory. However, one time, the hotel staff used a duplicate key late at night to gain entry. On August 19-20, 2023, a male hotel staff member entered the room with a female using a duplicate key at 2:30 a.m. When I yelled at them, they left in a hurry and argued in the hallway for a while. Later, I received a phone call and stuff saying, ”I thought it was an empty room and opened it, I'm sorry.” The next day, Sunday morning I went to the front desk to complain, but it was not reported to reception and seemed to have been hushed among the staff. So far, there has been no formal apology from the hotel. Those who are staying at the hotel should be vigilant to make sure that the door cannot be physically opened by placing a chair or suitcase in front of the door.

Hotel Le Grand Mellis Antananarivo is a 3 star hotel. I stayed in room 209 on September 13th 2019. The hotel is located in a busy city center area and was undergoing renovation. Entry to the hotel is through a glass door. The lobby is kind of small. The reception staff is friendly, helpful and can communicate in English with some degree of difficulty yet service is substandard. I have noticed very active clean girls doing the cleaning. They are extremely friendly and work very hard. Room is a little tight, but reasonably furnished. The room has no view and is located top of the hotel kitchen. The room is full of odors released from kitchen exhaust. I was not able to change room because the hotel was fully booked. The room has a small fridge and a mini bar. It also has a split air conditioning unit, I am not sure if it is operational or not. Toilet is renovated with a shower cabinet and hotel branded set of towels. You also get two free 500ml water bottles a day. The hotel has a business center, gym and massage parlor and a new glass elevator. You are expected to pay for breakfast. Breakfast buffet is small which is expected for such a small hotel. It included beans, noodles, and fish. Salad and very scanty selection of cheese. Muesli, raisins, nuts and yoghurt. Bread, croissants and cake. Drinks included juices, coffee and tea. The buffet is manned, which made me a little uncomfortable. I like to pick my own food without having someone following me while picking my food. In summary, you will find most of the facilities that you find in a 5 star hotel in a smaller scale or may be shabby. It is suitable for budget travelers that are not very picky and suitable for businessmen and professionals.

A centrally located hotel in mid city centre. It has an indoor pool and SPA. Rooms are comfortable with all basic amenities being provided. It has a coffee shop and restaurant which serve multicuisine. Staff are welcoming, polite and professional. Would like to make a special mention of Vanessa F&B Manager who gave a personal touch during my stay catering to my vegetarian food preference and looking after other guests. Liliana at the Front office was very supportive catering to my requests.

The location is just in the city. Amazing, Highly Recommend

Close to the airport, but quiet at night. Our upstairs bedroom was clean, cosy and nicely decorated, with attractive floral hangings. The bed was comfortable, plenty of hot water in the shower, the zebu we ate for dinner was the tenderest we had in Madagascar. The staff were charming. Breakfast is very basic, but adequate. Price/quality is excellent and the WiFi worked well.

Not recommended, the reason is that it is far from the tourist attractions, the price/performance ratio is not high, many hotels in Tana are under the name of Radisson 😸, the whole East Africa, Radisson franchise stores are everywhere, but this Radisson is located in the suburbs, I have lived in the Radisson apartment in the old town, it is within walking distance to the tourist attractions, this one is a bit far, you have to take a taxi, and to be honest, I don't think it is special, it is more than 100 yuan expensive for no reason, more importantly: the free airport shuttle is nonsense, nonsense, nonsense 😭😭, just take a taxi yourself, emails are not replied, you have to call to book a pick-up, the price is twice that of the airport taxi, more locals come, the reason is that there is a cinema next to it, suitable for weekends, after all, locals don't go to tourist attractions 😭

My wife and i stayed here twice while travelling around Madagascar in September. The accommodation was very clean and of a very good standard. Staff were very helpful and friendly, the restaurant provided good food in the evening as well as an excellent breakfast with plenty of choices and there was some live music in the evening. It is in a really good location, walking distance to the main market area, as well as close to several sights. We would unhesitatingly stay here again and definitely recommend it.
