Escale Hotel

This hotel is nothing like in the pictures. There were homeless people sleeping next to it. Shady neighbourhood. The hotel was falling apart inside. Nice staff, but unfortunately they can’t clean or make this work. It’s noisy. It’s dirty. It’s not safe. It’s the worst pillow I’ve ever had. I do not recommend.

My stay at the Escale Hotel Brussels was so much more than just disappointing, it was a descent into a nightmare. I have travelled all over the world and this is the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to visit. Imagine a room so filthy it could be a character in a Charles Dickens novel, with grime clinging to every surface and malfunctioning lights. This wasn't merely an aesthetic offence; it was a breeding ground for bacteria and a testament to utter neglect. But the true horror lay in the bathroom. Mould, black and menacing, colonised the walls, a toxic welcome mat threatening the health of any unsuspecting guest. This wasn't just unpleasant; it was a health hazard waiting to happen. I asked for the bedside lamp to fixed as it didn’t work, but this requested was ignored (a request met with the enthusiasm of a sloth in molasses). I then requested a room change only find that the replacement room had NO bedside lamps at all, clearly removed so they didn't have to keep them working. The photos online have absolutely no resemblance to the truth as what this hotel really like. The curtains did not even cover the window confirming that a sleep in was out of the question. Fire? The Escale Hotel Clearly Doesn't Care. I was confronted with a mere bracket for the smoke detector, mocking the very notion of safety, a chilling testament to the hotel's blatant disregard for fire safety regulations. Imagine being trapped in a burning building, the silence broken only by the roar of flames, all because this hotel prioritises profit over the basic safety of its guests. Unconscionable doesn't even begin to describe it. This is so much more than just an unpleasant stay this is a critical safely issue that should not be disregarded. Avoid This Abomination at All Costs The Escale Hotel Brussels is a stain on the hospitality industry and Brussels that they could be allowed for this go unchecked. The staff's indifference to basic cleanliness and fire safety is as appalling as the state of the rooms themselves. Do not, under any circumstances, consider staying here. Your health, your safety, and your sanity are worth far more than the dubious "savings" this hotel might offer. There are countless other establishments in Brussels that prioritise the well-being of their guests. Choose one of them. Choose life. Choose not to stay at the Escale Hotel Brussels.

Good base camp next to Brussels Midi station. The lady that works the day shift is friendly, the guy on nights was not. Ok for a brief stay if you are not spending most of your time in the room. Room was quite but pipes made some noise from other rooms. Cant complain for a one nights stay with train connections but if you are staying several days then may want to look around some more.

If you’re not a fan of sleep, clean bedding, peace and quiet and the company of respectable fellow guests then this is definitely the place for you! Cannot understate what a dive this place is - avoid like the plague.
