Staying in a traditional HanOk house was a highlight of our Korea trip. The Gurume resort had very nice book cafes ('On' and 'Off' cafes) which had the best coffees and teas with peaceful and beautiful views of the area. If anyone go to Andong, we highly recommend the stay in this resort for the unique experience. Yes the sleeping arrangements was OnDol (i.e. floor sleeping) but it was very warm inside the rooms and mattress was very comfortable.

Our plane was canceled the day before our scheduled arrival in Andong so we were unable to stay in this hotel. We explained to them and asked that they give us a voucher for later as the two hotels on our route offered us. They didn't want to know anything. We had to pay $300 per night because free cancellation was only possible 8 days before scheduled arrival. It is certain that when we return to Korea we will not take this hotel which has not even made the slightest commercial gesture. I can't imagine if there had been a water or room problem how they would have handled it? Certainly not with a service you might expect.
