11953 Over-priced and disappointing but excellent location Review of Cadjan Sacred Pending review We returned here after three years because we had enjoyed this unusual venue the first time around. Even then it required considerable attention. Quaintness is one thing, decrepitude quite another. We were warmly welcomed by the caretaker and his assistant and they provided food services that were tasty but not sophisticated in any way; that's perfectly fine. Breakfasts were good. Bed tea was available. The coconut estate surrounding the property is spacious and beautiful and gives the house a special mood. It's located in the Sacred City close to the oldest temple there. It could be a little gem of a place, but is spoiled by the complete lack of maintenance and repairs. My room's bathroom door still didn't open easily, as 3 years ago, the sink tap was inadequate, the paintwork was everywhere very dirty and tired...Information about the city was sparse and old and poor, the rooms not tidied in the morning, one room musty and smelly. This would all have been fine, but for the absolutely outrageous price charged. Next day I stayed in another touristic town in a small guest house, in immaculate condition, where the price was less for HB. But the location is great and adds to the very special feelings one gets visiting this ancient, so ancient, city.
