Uga Ulagalla - Anuradhapura

We started our Sri Lankan holiday staying here and could not have been more impressed with our welcome, the staff, the attentiveness of the service, the facilities, activities, food and our gorgeous villa. Everyone we encountered here went above and beyond to be helpful. In particular, my dietary restrictions were significant and were expertly handled by the management, chef and kitchen. Beautiful gluten free bread and muffins and food prepared with no onion and garlic. A HUGE THANK YOU! We did dine at Kamatha and Diluka prepared a Sri Lankan feast according to my restrictions- and it was spectacular! That was a true highlight of our trip!! Our room was #1, which was hugely convenient as we could easily walk to meals and the pool. The villa was enormous and beautifully appointed!!! Also, everything seemed new! We did relax around the pool a few times- often just a few people there. And such a relaxing setting. We did take the guided bicycle ride through the village - hugely fun and insightful. The setting of this resort is just beautiful!! And close enough for day tours. We loved our time at Uga Ulagalla and were sad to leave. It is a first class resort in a beautiful location with a staff that is really a credit to its brand. We were very grateful for all they did to make our stay so wonderful!

Kamatha dinning experience with Diluki was exceptional. Resembles home cooked food with so many flavours, the pumpkin curry and lamb curry are a few stand outs, the kiri hodi with string hopper and pol sambal bar far the best I have tasted at any resort/hotel in Sri Lanka plus the other 12 dishes we sampled while Diluki talked us through the cooking process. Amazing I would give 10 stars if possible.

Great base to explore Anuradhapura. Hotel itself and location is fantastic but what makes it stand out is it’s incredibly helpful and welcoming staff led by Dilrukshi and her team. The standout event was the dinner cooked by the sisters Manel and Diluka - a memory we will cherish for ever - 5 stars!

Uga Ulagalla is a beautiful place with fantastic grounds, we had a lovely time there. The staff are all wonderful and the rooms are truly beautiful, more like small cottages filled with everything you could possibly wish for including a plunge pool. We went for a bike ride around the local area and saw lots of birds. We also enjoyed a nature walk with a naturalist and a drive and picnic. The naturalist was very knowledgeable and great at spotting birds. Ulagalla are passionate about wildlife, especially protecting the elephants, and there is a research station that you can visit to find out more. There is so much that you can do whilst staying at Uga Ulagalla. We really enjoyed the Kamatha experience, 25 Sri Lankan dishes! Special thanks to Diluka and Manel (the chef that prepared all the fab dishes), as well as all the other incredible staff.
