Habarana Tree House Ambasewana Resort

A unique experience in the treetop. The staff is very friendly, and the place is like a little fairytale. It feels like stepping into a jungle dome in the middle af the city. Especially having our morning Coffee on the terrasse while the jungle wakes up was special

Firstly, as I am starting to call out places that give misleading information, there is no fitness centre here and also to say there is a tour desk I think is stretching things quite a lot. Onto my review, we stayed in a lovely spacious treehouse. The beds were comfortable and well protected from bugs, although we didn't get many inside thankfully. The bathroom is semi open air and not terribly private so may not suit everyone. There is a lack of water pressure and consequently the toilet doesn't flush very well. Also, some hand/face towlels would be useful. The food we had was good and the staff despite very limited ability for us to communicate effectively with each other, were very helpful. The highlight for us was the pool, which was a good size and a great place to return to after going out for tours.

What an amazing resort!!! We stayed in some incredible places on our trip through Sri Lanka, but this was the favourite for myself and the kids!! First of all, the location is perfect for exploring the Habarana/Dambulla/Sigiriya area (30 mins drive to Sigiriya). The resort itself is full of character, charm and tranquility. The gardens are lovely and give you the feel of a true Sri Lankan village. The pool is excellent and perfect for cooling off after a long day of adventuring. We stayed in one of the tree-houses and this was what the kids loved the most. The bathroom is exposed (slightly) to the jungle, giving you the sense that you really are living in the jungle. Expect a few small critters in the bathroom from time to time (little frogs, geckos etc), but nothing dangerous or scary and it really adds to the feel of the resort. The food here is also incredible. $10(USD) per head for dinner (kids $5) and you get the most authentic Sri Lankan dinner you could ask for. Everything is cooked fresh in a proper, traditional Sri Lanka kitchen and you can really taste the quality and freshness of everything. Worth every cent! And just when you think it can't get better, it does the next morning with a truly perfect Sri Lankan breakfast. Fresh appa (hoppers) cooked in front of you, with all the proper accompaniments, as well as other traditional Sri Lankan breakfast foods. Again, all fresh and properly cooked, leaving you very full and very satisfied!! Finally, as you would come to expect in Sri Lanka, the staff here are so friendly and helpful and really go out of their way to make your stay as good as it can be. We loved our time here and will definitely be back in the future, but for even longer next time!!

Amazing experience and great stay at this resort. Treehouses well cared for. Loved being right in amongst the wildlife. Monkeys around and apparently an elephant occasionally makes an appearance. The food here is absolutely exceptional. We went half board, price very reasonable. Breakfast was a spread of Sri lankan options (plus toast if you would prefer). We really enjoyed trying the local food, especially the egg hoppers and the sweet items. Dinners were mostly local curries (multiple side dishes) again beautiful. Fresh juices also served. The staff were lovely and took great care of us, arranging trips to sigirya and Minneriya and also organising our taxi to the train station when we left. It is a fairly short taxi journey to the train station where it was a nice journey to the east coast. I would without a doubt recommend this accommodation.

A nice, small resort in a jungle area which is managed by a family. We lived in a tree house with an open bathroom. You can’t get much closer to the nature. It’s not for everybody, but I loved it. The AC didn’t work, but all in all, it was not a big problem and we had a very pleasant stay. The food was very good (selfmade, home recipes) and we loved the pool/gym area.

Very good and calm place to stay. Excellent break first. Friendly staff. Clean and well maintained surround. Nice swimming pool. Affordable prices. No out side noise and disturbing. Environmental friendly construction.
