Cliff House Hotel sets a new standard for those whose love of travel is matched by a passion for fine food. Elegant, modern and intimate, stays revolve around cosy lunches, innovative dining and exquisite scenery. Vast windows fill the hotel with light, and frame green and blue views of the Irish coastline. The panoramas continue in every bedroom and suite, where spacious beds and freestanding baths set a laidback luxury vibe. A spiral staircase unites the levels of the hotel, which perches on the side of a cliff overlooking Ardmore beach. Local art adorns the walls, and Donegal tweed adds an element of softness amid clean lines and slate walls. Hints of maritime style appear in the Seaside Bar and Terrace, where roaring fires keep the cold at bay in winter, while al fresco dining feels more Mediterranean than Atlantic in the summer months. No matter the weather, swimming is available year round in the indoor infinity pool, where guests are treated to more awe inspiring seascapes. From lounging by the pool to relaxing in the spa, serenity is never far away. House signatures include an indulgent outdoor seaweed bath, or a treat for the feet using the anti inflammatory properties of Irish peat. If you prefer your diversions slightly more bracing, you are in the right place. A clifftop walk along the coast will rejuvenate and inspire, and the hotel also arranges sea kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, nature walks and more. Further afield, Waterford is full of historic sights, picturesque towns and quaint fishing villages. Follow a day exploring with a glass of wine in the House Lounge, the perfect spot to while away a calm evening. Cliff House Hotel is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.Show More

I am very satisfied with both the location of the hotel and the cleanliness of the room. Except for the bad attitude of the waitresses at the front desk and restaurant, everything else is very good!

What a lovely experience, everyone was so kind, helpful and welcoming. I had arrived early for the use of the amenities, was supplied with flip-flops and a robe. Could help myself to the pool, saunas, and outdoor hot tub. The views are breathtaking. Perfect for getting away and just gathering some peace and bliss. I got the full body Swedish massage ‍♀️ and my therapist, Clara, was just amazing. Absolutely fantastic service provided, I did not want to leave. Will be back soon for sure!

My wife and I had a short break at the Cliff House Hotel. I had often heard about it but had never been. Right from the very start this was a celebration of old world elegance. I don't mean that the hotel is tired. Far from it. Everything is modern and very well maintained. The rooms are beautifully appointed and by fiendish contrivance all have sea views. The rooms run down the face of the Cliff. Our room had a balcony. There is a cliff garden which runs between the balconies. We ate dinner at the bar which was very pleasant. Our breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever enjoyed. With valet parking and your bags transferred as if by magic to your room there is a strong sense of being minded right from the start. Which of us doesn't need a little minding? The staff are wonderful. All pleasant and smiling. A particular mention for Patrick who met us on arrival and was such a gentleman making us feel instantly at home. He also rescued us when he found us wandering lost around the hotel for which I am grateful! In short this is a wonderful hotel and a lovely experience. I can't wait to come back.

Time goes too fast when you are here, it's a fabulous hotel, with truly fabulous views over the water from all the rooms, such a relaxing place, we absolutely love it here. Out of 10, would give it 11. And we will certainly be back. Dip in the sea recommended too.

Luckily I booked this hotel! From the moment we arrived we felt like very special guests. A real gem, the location and view from the balcony are just stunning, the rooms are so cozy. 100% top of the list to recommend to others for a very special weekend. Michelin star restaurant, pool and spa! I loved the style of the hotel, very homely, polite and welcoming staff who want to make sure you enjoy every minute of your stay. We wanted something very close to the sea and this is the best you can get. If you are looking for a romantic evening with your other half, this is something I highly recommend!

We were a group of 10 friends, staying for a night and meal. The positives - the receptionist was friendly at check-in, and the rooms were comfortable with excellent sea views. However, the overall experience was very disappointing. The pool/spa area was dirty, with empty glasses lying around the poolside floor. The changing rooms were also dirty, with piles of wet towels overflowing from the laundry basket, and no fresh towels available, without us having to go back to the pool/spa reception area. The gym is tiny - 1 treadmill, cross-trainer and exercise bike all within 5cm of the next machine. The restaurant was the worst disappointment. We had a meal in the bar restaurant, and the service was terrible. Drinks orders were not taken, and then requests would have to be repeated on 3-4 occasions before the food or drink was delivered. The restaurant was not busy, but the waiting staff were focused on polishing salt sellers etc, rather than attending to guests. The food was distinctly average, and nowhere near an acceptable standard, despite the 5-star prices. The breakfast was a similar disappointment, with serving staff unable to bring out glasses of orange juice, toast or water without being asked repeatedly. There is a real lack of management oversight here. It beggars belief how this hotel has a 5-star rating, when you compare to other nearby options which are much more reasonably priced. The prices paid were not reflected in any sense of luxury or service.

I booked a facial during my Cliff House visit. My therapist Gina introduced herself and told me what to expect during my treatment. I was comfortable and relaxed throughout the whole process as Gina’s expertise was evident every step of the way. I felt fully cared for and very happy that I opted for this luxurious facial. Gina was an exemplary professional and obviously an expert in her field. I would highly recommend her for any spa treatment. Ann Dublin
