Kizumba House

The hotel is in a good location, easy walking distance to the clock tower area of Arusha, where you’ll find cafe’s and an ATM. We would have walked around more but were accosted by multiple guys trying to be our guide or sell us something, so we ended up returning to the hotel. The room was very compact so not a lot of space but the bed was comfortable. We were not expecting air-con but it would have been good to have a fan of some kind to get some movement of air. It was reasonably fresh overnight, 18c, so was not a major issue. The shower worked ok, with hot water if you wanted after waiting a few minutes, but the shower head bracket was broken, which should be an easy fix for the maintenance guys. We didn’t mention it to the management as it didn’t bother us that much. During the night you’ll get a regular clang of leaf or branch or fruit falling on the tin roof, but again, not an issue for us. Breakfast is interesting. There’s coffee & tea using local brands, and Inocente or Gloria will produce an omelette and toast for each guest. One morning this included spaghetti which was rather odd to experience

central location, sitting in a green garden, friendly staff and clean room. good value for a budget price. the dorm has no proper windows only a mosquito net, so it was very cold. WiFi was not working, only one plug for the whole dorm behind a bed. the bathroom has a Glas window in the door, looking right into the dorm and the handle was broken. also I booked a hiking tour with them. I can not recommend it. I didn’t get any briefing or an itinerary. It felt like the man at the office didn’t really know himself. also no safety measurements such at least asking for an emergency contact. the crew for the hike itself was very nice

Kizumba House was a surprisingly good standard accommodation at very affordable prices whilst in transit between safaris. The owner and staff (Jeff, Innocent, Gloria) were brilliant, the rooms though basic were more than adequate with nothing essential missing, and the restaurant within the same premises was surprisingly great too. Location was perfect. Wouldn’t hesitate to return. The owner also runs a tours company office on the same premises, and he said he also does joining safaris (grouping up solos, couples, etc).

Jeff was an amazing host. He met us at the bus station even when we didn’t tell him exactly when we were arriving (not sure how he figure that one out!) He showed us around the area and helped us with any questions we had. If you want a trustworthy place, definitely check Kizumba House out. Very clean and comfortable rooms too. We stayed there for a week. It’s easy to get to town from there. Its is 2 minutes from Clocktower by walking. I would definitely stay there again if I ever go back to Arusha.
