Yoshi has created a delightful guest house a 15 minute walk through country lanes from Aso train station. It’s simple, spotless and very friendly. If you want to experience a rural, rustic stay then this is for you

Yoshi has created a unique guesthouse, which is located along a pretty country road 15 minutes from Aso station. You are welcomed with a cup of buckwheat tea whilst Yoshi gives you a wealth of information about the area. The rooms are simple, spotless and comfortable, with everything you need. There is a communal area where you can BBQ or just relax - and join in as much or as little as you like. If you are after a genuine guesthouse experience with a friendly host then Asobi Gokoro is for you

The owner Yoshi's wonderful hospitality and the surrounding nature of Aso made for a wonderful stay. I felt at home, like I was visiting a friend.

Check-in takes place in a trailer in the outdoor space. First, we are treated to Aso tea. From here, the owner uses a handmade map to explain nearby restaurants, shopping, bathing, and recommended places. The accommodation building is located opposite and was renovated from a private house and was well maintained. It is very quiet because it is separated from the conversation area, and I was able to sleep well on the carefully selected mattress. In the evening, we had a bonfire and BBQ. The owner and other guests interacted with us and gave us information on trekking and recommendations. We were able to talk casually with people from overseas. In the morning, the owner brewed coffee with Aso spring water in the outdoor space. The location was great and it was a great cup of coffee. To enjoy this accommodation, I would like to arrive early and use the handmade map to run some errands, then enjoy the bonfire and BBQ.
