On December 2nd, around 5:30 PM, I tried to check in with the reservation confirmation sent by Trip.com, but they said that the reservation was not made (there was only one male staff member there). I showed them the reservation confirmation, which I had already paid for, and they insisted that the reservation was not made. I thought that there was no way that could happen, but I thought that there might have been a misunderstanding between Trip.com and the hotel (they said they had one room available), so I had no choice but to pay the fee again and stay there. I was told that I couldn't use my card, so I paid 90 US dollars in cash, but they consistently said that they couldn't give me a receipt if I paid in cash. After that, I asked Trip.com's customer support to cancel the reservation and explain the reason, but (although they said they would respond within 4 hours), they kept reconfirming the reservation, and on December 5th I received a reply saying that the cancellation had failed. As of December 7th, I have had customer support (not chat, but an actual staff member) negotiate with the local staff. Apparently, the hotel (which seems like a joke) says that a receipt is required for cancellation. I guess they thought they could deceive me because I was a woman and a child. I trust that Trip.com will take appropriate measures to prevent this from happening again, but if you are planning to stay here, please be careful.

I spent the new year's vacation in Anakato. People are so friendly. Food is nice, yet needs some more varities. Weather is amazing. Nile view is breathtaking, you never get enough of it. Close to the airport and almost all sightseeing attractions. Rooms are clean yet no TV in the room which needs to be reconsidered. The place needs more lighting as the streets inside the hotel are neither paved nor enough lightened. Overall experience was great, and can easily be much better. Manager was so helpful and polite.

The location is great the view is breath taking and the weather was a bit cold at night but it was very nice in the morning, the food was very good and the room is clean and organised, the only annoying thing was the mosquitoes take something like OFF to get red of it in the outdoor, (the hotel supplied the rooms with anti mosquitoes).

Beyond Philae Temple and the jumping off point for Abu Simple, Aswan is about the Nile and its islands, the cataracts. Best for touring these islands is the WadaKiki on the west bank from whose dock boats arrive and depart. Modest accommodations are immaculate by national standards with good maintenance and upkeep. Nile Villas overlook the water. The stark dining room with its economical menu and SUBERB, though leisurely, kitchen (best to pre-order when possible) is presided over by Mehmud, the maître d’ who says, “I have an idea,” and can get ANYTHING done; just ask, his English is excellent. At night, the local Nubian village lights up with all the trinkets and treasures ubiquitous to touring Egypt. The inflexible, unimaginative, dull, and ignorant who want to dress for dinner will do better to book at The Old Cataract.

Quaint, excellent manager, on river, nice rooms --- stayed twice, once before our trip South to Abu Simbel, then again on return, each for a night. Suitcase lost on arrival, manager arranged for finding and having it transferred to hotel next morning

Such a magical place, the hotel, rooms, grounds and people are beautiful. We where welcomed by a number of staff even though it was such a late check in, we where able to settle in to our rooms then order a late dinner and tea. Great food and great service yet again. Had a great informative chat with our waiter. Rooms are spacious comfortable and very clean, grounds are beautifully maintained. Breakfast was fresh simple and delicious. Loved walking around the grounds and checking out all the other huts/rooms. We had a Nile View room which was amazing. NEED to go back and spend a few more days there.

Our visit to Artika Wadi Kiki in the Nubian Village of Aswan was an unforgettable experience that left us feeling like we had found a true treasure. Though we arrived later than expected after spending extra time absorbing the energy of Abu Simbel, we were greeted at the gate with so much enthusiasm and excitement—“Welcome, Cousins!” they exclaimed, and from that moment, we truly felt like family. The architectural design and decor were stunning, and the breathtaking views surrounding us were absolutely mesmerizing. The people of Artika Wadi Kiki welcomed us with open arms, and the staff, especially the cooks and restaurant team, prepared a special meal just for us. It was DELICIOUS! Their warmth and friendliness made the meal even more enjoyable, and we couldn’t help but be swept up in the joy they had for hosting us. What stood out most during our stay was the genuine love and hospitality. The term “cousins” carried so much weight as we were showered with care and affection. We were assigned their “special” room, complete with a wraparound porch overlooking the picturesque lake. The double doors opened to reveal magnificent views, and the energy of the room made me feel so comfortable and protected—it was truly a sanctuary. If you’re visiting Aswan, don’t miss out on this hidden gem. Artika Wadi Kiki is more than a place to stay; it’s a true treasure filled with love, warmth, and a deep connection that makes you feel like you’ve found family in the heart of the Nubian Village.
