Very warm welcome - the hosts were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It is a well maintained beautiful Georgian building. Really comfortable good night's sleep, lovely sheets! Toiletries well above normal standard. This is what a hotel should be. Fantastic locally sourced beautifully cooked food, the chef (and host) Richard was enthusiastically describing where he sourced his eggs, pheasants, etc. They do flambée nights, and other events. Even the marmalade at breakfast is homemade.

From the outside of this place its very beautiful and in a very lovely location, I am not one to write negative reviews but when it efforts health then its in my best interest so it can be avoided by others or issue can be addressed Appropriately As soon as you walk in there is a strong smell of damp or something which effected my Asthma ( which nearly weeks on and my asthma is still affected) We got told they upgraded us to the Supreme room instead of a standard double , we get show to our room and there was marking on small pillow and break lamp and there was fair few Stains on the side and lamp is broken to, the room as 2 little doors to the bath room and one of the doors keep getting stuck which started panicking as got stuck a few times the bathroom , its a small bathroom , i could of coped with this but to top it all off, the bed and mattress was very hard it felt like we was sleeping on the floor, i didnt have no sleep at all nor didn't my partner ( which is a complete waste of money you book places like this to sleep ) we stayed on 20/6/2024 for my sister in law wedding I had breakfast the bacon looked under cooked with to much fat on it and mushroom was far to Grease Staff seemed to be okay but they clearly don't like standard class people ( my opinion) not worth the money or if you had breathing issues like chronic asthma or copd or any like this please find somewhere more appropriate Place Needs a refresh and please sort the damp issue before it effects other people health

I stayed at the Chapel House earlier this week with a couple of colleagues on a business trip and was delighted with my stay - a very traditional boutique hotel with excellent rooms, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The bed supplied one of the best nights sleep I've had in a long time and the shower pressure was incredibly good. The location of the hotel is perfect being close to the main market square with a good range of ale houses but set back behind the church meaning it was very peaceful and quiet. The restaurant was beautiful, pressed linen table cloths, polished cutlery and adorned with beautifully polished silverware. The service outstanding by both our waitress and the Chef himself who came to our table to ensure we were enjoying our meal. The food, cooked by the brilliant owner Richard was top notch, a really solid fine dining menu with a good range of expertly cooked dishes and a truly magnificent wine list (try the Amarone del Valpolicella, it's a particularly good example!). The breakfast was also incredibly good as was Richard's wonderful home made marmalade! Thanks so much to Richard and Siobhan for being such good hosts, We'll be back!

After reading the reviews and the online information, we booked this place as it was central for our mini break. The positive - the menu was well thought out and offered a selection for all tastes. We could not fault the standard of cooking or the presentation. Breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day and the evening meals were outstanding. Impressed that the chef offered to prepare a different vegetarian option for myself on the second night. However although the dining room and our bedroom were spotless we were aware of a very musty smell in the entrance and the stair carpet needed a good hoover. The owners seemed initially uninterested in our stay and we did feel that we were an inconvenience to the lady owner. Perhaps this was her usual manner? This did improve slightly over the time we stayed. The place lacked atmosphere, possibly due to the fact we seemed to be the only guests after the first night. Would I recommend? Yes to the restaurant only.

We really enjoyed staying here - the rooms are comfortable (but not contemporary) and the breakfast was really tasty. Very welcoming overall and we would stay here again when visiting the Midlands.
