The hotel is definitely not a 4 star. Top range 3 star at best. The room was clean. It was advertised as a king sized bed, however putting 2 single beds together is very misleading. The Italian restaurant, the staff are nice but the service is very very slow. Took me an hour to get food. The location is ideal. The sports centre is good and spacious. The pool is good fun. The gym needs a complete modernisation program. Not enough equipment and in a very small room. The sports centre could utiltse space more effectively and have a state of the art gym in the other bigger rooms. It would be used well, however this is sadly not the case. I will return and use this hotel in the future. The price is not cheep and if your expecting Hilton quality then this is not the hotel for you.

Service at reception was great and on realising we had a lesser standard room than what was booked and paid for we were swiftly moved to a better one. Service on entering the restaurant both times was poor and we were left standing both times ignored by a few staff. Hotel is tired and needing upgraded in most bits and the disgusting cigarette ashtray on entering the back door was overflowing and not emptied during our visit, not a good look at the doorway.

Second time staying here. Very quiet stay, far from traffic. Well run place, very accoustomed to tour groups. Rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was organized and the food perfect. Close to the town area for other eateries and a Tesco.

The entrance hall, reception, bar and seating area, all nicely decorated as is the Italian restaurant on the same floor. Our room had a Mountain View, and a window that opened to let in the fresh air. King sized bed with crisp white bedding. Bathroom with shower, and Elemis’s toiletries.complementary tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The room and bathroom all clean, and nicely decorated, with eye pleasing accessories. Breakfast served in another building next door. Buffet style, with plenty of choice, fresh fruits, pastries, and the usual cooked options, plus potato cakes. All the staff were efficient. And friendly. My husband and I had a good stay at this hotel and would recommend.

Such a relaxing tranquil stay, staff were so friendly and knowledgeable couldn’t fault a thing great value for money . The leisure facilities are fantastic and the steam room was great, the fact that you can use all the restaurants in the resort is an added bonus there is also a courtesy bus that takes you to the country club if you fancy eating there would definitely recommend

My wife and I stayed at this resort as part of our road trip to Scotland-we ended up staying an extra two nights due to the tremendous service from the staff. From Ryan at the front desk to the wait staff at dinner and breakfast were VERY ATTENTIVE! For instance, the same server that sat us for breakfast the day before saw a day later that I didn’t have fried eggs. He remembered that I had them the day before and went out of his way to get them for me. The room was very clean. As far as dinner, we recommend Giovanni’s. They made us a from scratch wood oven pizza in 5 mins, which I didn’t think possible! For dessert, we highly recommend the crème brûlée and apple tart with ice cream!

we went there for the Scottish Elvis Festival and the organisers couldn't have picked a better location or hotel. Rooms were spacious, near to the venue, clean and comfortable, Staff were brilliant, especially the reception staff who were working on the Friday and Saturday during the festival. Nothing was to much trouble for them. Breakfast was served in the food court, it was a buffet, there was plenty of choice, something for everybody, with plenty friendly staff who were quick to clear tables and replenish the hot buffet. ( really loved the sausages) The hotel was so good we have booked to go back next year .

I booked a Deluxe room in the Morlich hotel for myself and my mum. After previously staying twice in the Highland hotel, I decided to book the Morlich due to this hotel being refurbished and having a walk in shower for my mum. On arrival we parked up close to the hotel, unpacked our luggage and headed inside to be told we were not in this hotel, we were staying in the Highland hotel. I showed my confirmation and was told the Morlich hotel was fully booked with a conference and were sent over to the Highland hotel. At the Highland hotel reception I was told the Morlich had been fully booked with a conference for over 1 year. Despite this the Morlich hotel was showing as available on the Macdonald website and I could have booked it then and there in reception. We were directed to our room which meant taking our luggage back outside to access a different part of the hotel, only to find the key card did not work. After another trip to reception, we entered the room to find it resembling an old people's home and with no walk in shower. I went back to reception to request a different room and was offered a "family room" that consisted of a double bed & a put up bed with the same care home decor. At this point I was looking for alternative accomodation online, I saw the other hotel on resort (Aviemore hotel) had availability and asked if we could be moved into that hotel, I was told that hotel was closed at this time of year. If the Aviemore hotel is closed and the Morlich is full, why are they still being advised as available to book. I refused either room offered to us and eventually was offered a suite with twin beds and a walk in shower. We had to wait for the room to be cleaned and we're provided with a complimentary drink in the lounge while this took place. The room was very nice , although when we got into the room they had not split the beds into twins, so yet another visit to reception to get this quickly rectified. We did enjoy our stay and I do like the Macdonald resort, I visit Aviemore regularly but have never dared to book here again because you just don't know what hotel you are going to get.
