Kerrington House

My girlfriend and I have just come back from a fantastic weekend away in Axminster and Bath; we came to Axminster for an evening at River Cottage for my girlfriend’s birthday. And Kerrington House was perfect from the moment we pulled up; Fiona the manager was lovely and so helpful. She came out to greet us with a warm welcome and offered to take our bags up to the room, the room we had was on the top floor and it was lovely and cosy not to mention very clean. When we told her that we had come for a night at River Cottage she explained that the taxi companies in the area were of quite a limited fleet and that we may struggle to get a taxi to take us down there. But without question she was straight on the phone to as many taxi companies as possible trying to get us a lift down to the cottage. The bed was lovely and comfortable and after having a great dinner at River Cottage, I slept like a baby. The next morning we went down for breakfast and again the experience was top notch, the young waitress very polite and friendly and the breakfast superb, with a fantastically wide choice on offer. I know the review below is some what critical and you must respect other people’s opinions and experiences, but for the life of me I cannot find any comparisons to what I experienced, whilst staying at Kerrington House. I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Spend a couple of nights there. Was a fantastic place to stay. The room was immaculate. There was a little tipple of sherry in a bottle which was a nice touch. The hot water kettle took forever to heat the water but that did not bother us. There were a couple of spiders which had to be taken care of during the night, but again its out in the country and its a little inconvenience for the pleasure of open windows. The hostess and her little helpers and cute bear like puppy were friendly. The eating area was set out like a proper restaurant with a menu and the service was great!!

My husband and I spent last night here as it was handy to River Cottage where we went for dinner. We received a friendly welcome from the B&B's owner. The house is lovely and clean. The room did not dissapoint for comfort and cleanliness. The decor was also pleasing. Breakfast was delicious. We would certainly recommend staying here and hope to have reason to visit again.

We booked this hotel last minute & thoroughly glad we did. We arrived at 6.30 & we were greeted by the very pleasant owner. Our room was perfect. It was warm & comfortable with everything thought out. It was very quiet & we had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious & nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely recommend this accommodation & wish we had stayed longer. We will definitely return.

Lovely B&B just 10 mins walk from centre if Axminster. Every room individually decorated and furnished with little touches to complete the experience. Breakfast choice was cooked fresh and excellent selection. off street parking was a bonus and a lovely garden to sit in.

Beautiful hotel. Lovely imposing building with onsite parking. We had a family room & were pleased to note that a proper single bed (rather than camp bed/ sofa bed) had been set up for our teenage daughter. We walked into town in the evening- 10 mins most. (Great Italian btw) The room was warm and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and the young girl serving exceptional. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone considering a stay.
