This family owned hotel nestles in beautiful Bavaria. The buildings and surrounding area are picturesque and provide stunning views. It is accommodation that requires more than an overnight stay in order to make use of the facilities available. It is a wellness centre. As part of a tour group, we arrived late at night (11.30p.m.) after the Passion Play. Even at this late hour, we were warmly welcomed by the owner offering us a drink! Our rooms had been newly refurbished - "finished yesterday" - so we were asked to notify him of any teething problems. (We discovered that the hand basin in the toilet had not yet been plumbed!) Our accommodation in Haus Josephin was spacious with a large sitting area, bedroom, separate toilet with hand basin and bathroom. The shower was very small. The self service breakfast was very good with a wide selection of items. For us the location was not ideal as we would have preferred to be closer to Oberammergau. As mentioned earlier, this resort is definitely one for a longer "wellness" stay or simply time to enjoy the walks and facilities.

The Parkhotel looks like a Disney version of a German mountain inn, with steep roofs, shutters and colorful flowering window boxes. The inn is spread across several buildings. We were in the main building where reception and the dining room are located. We had a 3rd floor 2-room suite which was well furnished, spacious and quiet. The bathroom was quite functional, with the exception of a shortage of hooks and towels racks. It was quite warm while we were there, and the windows have no screens, so be prepared for flies to share your room. The inn does show its age, though, with some worn carpets and chipped and scratched furniture. The loose newel posts almost caused me to stumble down the stairs. In general, the entrance via a metal spiral staircase, and the public rooms with the various steps up and down, make it a challenging environment for anyone with mobility issues,. The buffet dinner offered many delicious choices, and the buffet breakfast was also very appealing. The staff was delightful; every person that we came across greeted us warmly and went out of their way to make us comfortable. I walked around the surrounding area in a nearby green field and near the lake and really enjoyed the beautiful area.

This hotel had the typical German architecture. It was in a semi-rural area near Oberammergau where we were going for the passion play. Our room had a nice balcony, separate bedroom, large sitting room and bath. It was not real modern but was comfortable. The food for dinner and breakfast was very good.

We spent one night at this hotel in Bavaria. In the surrounding location, we were told that it is the best of FOUR hotels. Yes, the food selection for dinner plus the expansive rooms to choose to dine in was quite impressive. In fact, the rooms all seemed to be added on to the building in random order. But it was our room that was a jolt. Yes, a good sitting area with a flat-screen TV. And a good bed. But a questionable bathroom in terms of size and shower. But the more difficult challenge was the lack of a phone in the room, the lack of lights in the hallways, and the lack of light anywhere in the complex. We arrived late at night after the Oberammergau Passion Play and did not get much of orientation in the dark as we made our way to the room. Just not one of our favorites....and if we were not with a tour group, I might have checked out prior to going to sleep. If you do decide to stay, or have to stay because the Passion Play committee has decided that your group will stay here, try to read ALL the comments made in the review and do what you can to mitigate the various issues, e.g. phone in the room, clean and adequate bathroom, staying in the main building that thus gives you light in the halls, etc. Strong suggestion to do your homework. Good luck.

We came in with a Viking group for Passionspiele. We got a one bedroom suite in the main building. The bathroom was a disaster, no shower, only a big whirlpool tub, and the whirlpool didn't work, so I'm giving myself a spongebath out of the tub faucet - not fun. The room doesn't have air conditioning - common for the Alps I guess. So your choice is to sleep in a hot room or to open the windows and patio doors, which don't have screens, so you get bugs and the smell of cows in your room - pick your poison. Dinner and breakfast were fine. The setting in the hills and on the lake is beautiful. We didn't have time to check out the spa. Not recommended.

We took a Tauck tour to see the Passion Play in Oberammergau, which was amazing. The organizers of the play assign you places for dinner during the break and your hotel accommodations. This hotel is beautiful. Very authentic Bavarian setting, Lake, hiking and strolling paths. They greeted us with wine as we came in, but we passed on that as it was about 11pm. Room was spacious with a balcony and window. Beautiful view. The included breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Only one negative and it’s a usual US visitor complaint. It was at least 85 F in our room and no AC. No screens in the window or door either. The Federdecke looked wonderful but I slept on top of the bed, coated in bug spray and with a wet washcloth. Nonetheless, I give it 5 stars and recommend if you can live without AC. Maybe spring or fall.

We stayed two nights last week while visiting to see the Passion Play in nearby Oberammergau. The breakfasts were wonderful and our rooms were great with a separate TV sitting room. Enjoyed the views - wish we had spent more time there!
