We stayed at Casa Manenzes at the beginning and at the end of our time in Goa. The location is pretty convenient to the airport, Panjim, the Aguada and Reis Magos forts, and old Goa, but it is in a quiet and picturesque village away from the hustle and bustle. It is also close to several good birding spots, which was part of why we chose it. The house is very old, and has a real sense of history, but the rooms have been renovated to be quite comfortable. The on site restaurant is excellent. They use fresh local ingredients and everything we ate there was very tasty. The included breakfast buffet has both continental and Indian options. For lunch and dinner, be sure to let them know ahead of time if you plan to eat there, so they have time to prepare. David, the owner and proprietor, was very helpful in coordinating transportation, setting us up with a scooter rental, and providing tons of info on all the things to do and see in the area. We would have liked to have talked to him more, and learned about the history of the house and the area in general.
