Blackwell House

We had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast. We stayed in the Loft Suite which was fantastic. Gorgeous decor, the comfiest bed and a hot tub on a lovely terrace overlooking the countryside. Divine. We opted for the taster menu for dinner which was such a treat. Enjoyed in the main house, an idyllic setting of candles and piano music. Each course was delicious and accompanied by a great wine selection. Breakfast was another highlight. High quality, local produce cooked to perfection. But… the very best thing about Blackwell House is the hosts, Edele & Alessio. They are so lovely, friendly, interesting and an absolute pleasure to spend time with. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Based on previous reviews, our expectations were high, but were exceeded from the moment we arrived. Alessio and Edele are so welcoming and absolutely nothing was too much trouble during our stay. The main house is stunning, cosy and beautifully decorated but it still felt like a home rather than a hotel, with the added benefit of the off nudge from Riley, a handsome Cesky Terrier! When we arrived it was buzzing with guests having afternoon tea, yet Alessio still took us to our suite in the smaller cottage. Again this was stunning, thoughtfully decorated and equipped with more than we could have hoped for. I dont want to spoil the surprise for others by going into too much detail, but the suite most definitely had the wow factor (especially the basket!!). We experienced the 5 couse taster menu which was a real culinary feast and both vegan and non vegan were catered for and explained with thoughtfulness - our compliments to the chef! This was a very special experience, which ended the next morning with an equally gorgeous breakfast. Overall, Blackwell and its hosts thoroughy deserve the 5* rating, we really couldnt recommend it highly enough and very much look forward to another stay in future!

Exceeded expectations! I don’t know where to begin. We are an American couple living in Dublin, Ireland. We have had many adventures and beautiful stays throughout the island of Ireland. However, Blackwell House will always hold a special place in our hearts. Edele and Alessio have created an amazing countryside experience in Northern Ireland and we can’t wait to return. Even through a historic storm like Eowyn, Edele and Alessio kept us pampered and well looked after. They went above and beyond as hosts. The property and rooms are lovely and the beds heavenly. The food and wine selection are out of this world. Our meal Saturday night with their in house chef was one of our finest to date. If you are looking for a true Northern Ireland experience full of hospitality, incredible meals and country charm, Black Well house can’t be outdone.

We had a fantastic stay at Blackwell House. The food was excellent, the rooms and overall decor were stunning with great attention to detail. The hosts were incredibly attentive and ensured all guest needs were met. Our family stayed for two nights, including a lovely surprise dinner. The high standard of quality and service is impressive for Ireland. We would love to come back!

My daughters treated me to afternoon tea in Blackwell House. Perfect. Beautiful surroundings, lovely mulled wine and amazing food. The very best afternoon tea I’ve ever tasted. Had been there some years ago for afternoon tea and this time it was the same excellent standard thanks to Edele and Alessio.

Excellent! We cannot recommend Blackwell House highly enough. From the warm welcome upon arrival, to the superb standard of food and cleanliness to the afternoon tea and fantastic breakfast. You will not be disappointed. We have stayed in many hotels in Northern Ireland and Worldwide, but nothing can top the experience, warm welcome, fantastic food and such tasteful accommodation.
