I recently stayed at The Capital Residence Suites and while the hotel offers some helpful services, the overall experience was let down by poor cleanliness and service standards.
To start with the positives — the hotel provides complimentary airport transfers, which was very convenient. They also offer city tours to the main attractions, which made sightseeing in Bandar Seri Begawan easier and more accessible.
However, both the housekeeping and breakfast service left much to be desired. In my room, used cups were left unwashed, coffee and tea supplies were not replenished, and tissues were not restocked even though they were clearly running low. This gave me the impression that the housekeeping staff either rushed through the cleaning or overlooked basic hospitality standards.
The breakfast experience was even worse. The cups provided were completely unclean, some with visible dirt or residue, which was very off-putting. Staff were seen playing with their phones instead of attending to guests or checking supplies. When the bread and sugar ran out, no one took the initiative to refill them. Tables were full of used plates, and the staff only started clearing them after we had finished and left — not during the breakfast rush, as expected.
Although the front desk staff were polite and helpful, the poor attention to cleanliness and service in both the rooms and the dining area negatively affected my stay. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and improves their overall service quality.
