This hotel is highly recommended in banff town. It has complete facilities and a warm and comfortable environment. You will get a three-day scenic bus ticket for free when you stay. It is very convenient to go to various attractions. The Italian restaurant on the first floor is also very delicious.
ps The hotel adheres to the concept of environmental protection and does not have drinking water supply. It is said that banff can drink water directly or buy it at the market price. The hand sanitizer and soap are also made from local brands and are of good quality.
This was a disappointing stay. The contract was for a private bathroom. The wash basin was in the main room and doubled as a sink. No definition of private bathroom has the wash basin outside the toilet/shower room. There was a constant vibration from the large fans / generator directly outside the window. This went on all night with the window shut. We raised this and were told ‘it’s for the whole complex so we can’t turn it off’ and “it’s next door and not on our property so we can’t do anything about it.” “You need to keep the window shut as it’s soundproof.” We did and it wasn’t. We asked how to manage the heat in the room. The toilet/ shower was like a sauna and the rest of the room was very hot. The advice was turn off the thermostat (it wasn’t on), put on the airconditioner (all night!?) and open the window. See above re shutting the window against compressor noise. There were no other rooms we could be moved to for our remaining stay of two nights and ‘housekeeping didn’t like it if guests stay single nights’, ‘if we have another room you’ll be the first to know’ All in all we felt dismissed. The inconveniences in the room and the terrible attitude of the staff were far short of expectations for a room of around $500 per night. Congratulations to Marwan and his Czech colleague who helped get maintenance reduce the heat. But a rip off for the price.
An amazing hotel. Fairmont gold dining room / lounge is impressive. Great 33m indoor pool and fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and Bow river. from the hotel. This is a beautiful, classically styled, expensive and impressive resort. Self Parking is a 3 min walk to the hotel. Take a 10 min bus ride into Banff Ave. Bus tickets for guests are complimentary. Banff is a very picturesque town and well worth a visit. Banff avenue points directly at Cascade mountain for an amazing view every time you walk out to the street.

This review is long overdue and refers to stays in March 2016 & March 2017. For 3-night stays it suited us perfectly. If the hotel advertised itself as a ski lodge with old world charm and great staff – like, really great staff, we’d give it 5/5 because that’s exactly what it is and sets the expectations appropriately. However, we’re reviewing this hotel based on the way it is advertised: as a “luxury lodge” with “elegant rooms” for a “romantic escape” and as a 4-star “boutique hotel”. Each one of these words translates to something it’s just not quite. Given the descriptors (and the cost - at about $215 per night for a king bed) we expect a little more as far as rooms go. In reality the rooms were somewhat dated, but clean and served the purpose. The ventilation (heater) was noisy and the in room safe did not work properly. Hotel’s best offerings: 1. Staff (they were great – friendly and helpful); 2. Location & the shuttle pick up to Lake Louise and Sunshine (paid for as part of a ski package through the hotel and in addition to the room cost - was super convenient as it is right outside the front door); and 3. Breakfast (it was fantastic, though pricey). Tip regarding the shuttle: it’s about 20-30 minutes to Sunshine and about 45-60 minutes to Lake Louise. It’s one of the first few pick-ups, so not an issue getting a seat in the morning. But … when leaving the ski resorts and returning to the hotel, line up early as they can be crowded and might not be able to accommodate everyone, which means a long wait for the next bus. Overnight storage of skis is in the basement and works well. Equipment was not permitted in the rooms. Underground valet parking was nice. Hot tub is just ok (it’s in a basement and quite dark; alcohol is prohibited - though we managed to have a beverage or two). When we were there both the lounge and the dining room were pretty low-key (empty), so we went down the street for something a little more lively. It’s only a 15 minute walk to the main strip in Banff. Relatively short, but feels like a long walk if you hit a cold snap like we did. Bring a toque! Highly recommend The Block Kitchen and Bar for dinner (small sharing plates) and Tooloulous for breakfast. Arrive early or expect to wait in line at both. Overall a great time was had and we would consider it again if we return to Banff.
It has the atmosphere of an old furnished mountain region apartment but the cleaning services is rough. I found two and more but shells and bugs body on the rug after I checked in. The location isn’t too far from downtown Banff however under the coldness it would be rough walking to town. Parking is extra (14.99cad not fee as the page stated on trip.com) phone to ask the details before booking this place… it’s an ok place to stay just not great for family vocation.
All the staff were really friendly and helpful, with some good tips on where to go and what to do - was pointed towards some great MTB trails. Kitchen was always cleaned thoroughly after breakfast, the rooms were cleaned regularly and the shower is good. Stayed in a mixed dorm for a week and had a couple of small issues with a ”princess” in the bunk above me - and mentioned it to the staff, who said they would have a word if required. The ”princess” left - so there was no need for them to intervene - but it was good to know that they won't put up with disruptive guests. Location is a short (10min) flat walk from the very centre of Banff - so couldn't ask for a better location.
The location is good, next to the famous Canadian steakhouse The Keg. The service is also very warm, there are hot springs in the winter to soak, you can see the snow-capped mountains. Check-in and check-out are quick. A buffet breakfast is served daily, with yoghurt and oatmeal, and the egg yolk can also meet the needs and will be recommended.
The hotel is on the hillside of Tunnel Mountain, a little distance from the town centre. There must be a car to travel, otherwise it is inconvenient. There is no air conditioning in the room, it is still a bit hot in summer, there should be no problem in winter, you can open a window, but you need to ponder for a while, very technical, screened, mosquitoes are estimated in the woods. When the hot pool was under maintenance, my daughter actually ran to the hotel next to it, saying there was a water playground and a slide. The most unexpected and most satisfying place is that when the scenery on the small gazebo behind the house is seen, three deer walked through the woods behind the house. It may be that the sun goes down to the nest and enjoys the wildlife in the eyes. Very lucky, it is estimated. It is also a kind of experience that is not too much.
The stay was too comfortable, one more night, the stay was very quiet, the environment was good, the snowy mountains and the forest could be seen outside the window, the room had a coffee machine, a microwave oven, and toiletries were of good quality, the room was hygienic, and the important thing was that we had pajamas after we left And the cashmere scarf fell, and the hotel helped us send it home in four days. I am very grateful!
The location is really good. Just beside the town’s busiest street. Have your own underground workshop, charge 5 plus (excluding tax) every day. The room facilities are very old. The breakfast was quite simple, average. The price is quite expensive, and the individual feels that the price is average.

Outstanding
DDaxiangJDXThe hotel feels very new, and you can see the snow-capped mountains opposite from the balcony, which is very beautiful. Although I only stayed for one night, the front desk gave each person a bus ticket that can be used for three days. Bus No. 1 can go directly to the center of the town in four stops. There are vending machines and free ice making on the third floor of the hotel.
GGuest UserAll the staff have been incredibly friendly, helpful and efficient. Room was lovely and clean and comfortable, the toiletries provided were amazing! Breakfast included in the price was so helpful we filled up on breakfast with cereals, muffins, cooked breakfast and my boyfriend loved the made to order omelettes, they knew his order by the 3rd morning. Then we'd go out for the day and wouldn't eat again untill the evening. After a long day out in the snow and cold weather we'd warm up in the hot tub and steam room.
CCherineTEasy check in and check out. Simply download their mobile app to receive a virtual key to your room, or check in in person at the Banff Caribou Hotel and Spa. When checking out, just dial ”0” to the front desk, leave the card in the room and you're good to go :)
The room has been renovated and is clean and modern. They have microwave, mini fridge and kettle. You can also take away their mug as a souvenir for free.
In the bathroom, they offer Rocky Mountain Soap Company products that are handmade and vegan. If you like them, you can go to their stores in Canmore or Banff, or order directly online.
This was a very comfortable, well-managed hotel. The staff willingly changed our room when we asked to move from the first floor. Staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again! Price was high, but going rate in Banff.
GGuest UserThe hotel is carefully decorated, the service staff is friendly, and the room is very clean
There is an underground parking lot and an elevator, which is very convenient for carrying luggage.
In-room meals are provided, which are inexpensive and convenient.
GGuest UserReasonable stay, a little far out from Banff but good public transport close by. Free parking at the rear of the property, a big bonus but parking is available in the underground carpark.
Expensive for what was provided.
Apartment well fitted out and everything required for the stay is provided, but the most critical item, the safe, was not working, meaning that we had to take passports, cards and cash with us throughout our stay in Banff.
Regretfully disappointed with poor sleep throughout the stay, the sound proofing is exceptionally poor, especially from overhead apartments, with wooden floors creaking badly and every footstep clearly heard. Interconnecting doors had poor soundproofing, every sound and talking were clearly heard. Apprciate that the building is timber, but there are numerous ways to improve the soundproofing, but at a commercial cost.
Bring a good set of ear plugs, they are essential for sleep.
Train leaves the station or passes through Banff at 5.40 every morning, and the driver loves to use his horn on every occasion, no need for an alarm clock!!
GGuest UserWe were a little worried about staying at Hidden Ridge because of some of the negative reviews but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Four of us (two couples) stayed for 5 nights in a Premier 2 Bedroom Loft Condo (with 4 Queens). The condo was spacious for 4 adults, clean, bright and airy, and very comfortable. The two bedrooms on the lower level were on the small side but had comfortable beds (Queen bed in each). There is also a loft above the main level with two Queen beds that overlooks the living area and kitchen on the main level. There were two good sized bathrooms, one on the lower level between the bedrooms and the other one upstairs on the main level (the upstairs bathroom even included a washer/dryer which was very convenient!). The kitchen was well-stocked and Wi fi worked great. Our condo included a wood-burning fireplace in the living area. One of the highlights of Hidden Ridge is the outdoor hot tub and heated pool that has gorgeous views of the Rocky Mountains! There is comfortable outdoor seating and firepits. We enjoyed the hot tub/pool on several evenings during our stay and, IMO, is a must visit. There are fresh towels available near the hot tub/pool. There is also a sauna right next to the hot tub/pool area. The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us free bus passes when we arrived. Hidden Ridge is located about a mile from Banff village in a quiet, secluded wooded area. You will need to drive, walk or take the bus into Banff village for restaurants, markets, etc. since there is not much near Hidden Ridge. Be aware that if you drive your car into Banff village, you will need to pay for parking (about $3/hour) since there is no free parking that we could find. We would definitely return to Hidden Ridge Resort!
GGuest UserMy husband and I stayed at this hotel in October 2022. We found the front office staff very friendly and able to answer all our questions. It was nice having coffee, tea, and infused water available in the front lobby at all times. The rooms were well decorated and clean. Our room had a microwave, mini fridge and a Keurig with pods and cups. Very convenient. We also had a great view of the mountains from our room on the third floor...with a balcony, two seats and a table that we used often. The odd number rooms are located in the front of the hotel with a view of the mountains. Rooms with even numbers are in the back and overlook a courtyard and other buildings. Parking was convenient and easy to access. The only drawback was the breakfast included with our stay. We ate in the breakfast area 5 times and every time we ate we ended up with syrup on our arms or clothes from the previous diner. We never saw the tables being wiped down at all. The food was okay. Basically the same thing every day. This hotel is within walking distance of a grocery store and all the shops and restaurants down the main street (Banff Avenue) and the side streets I would have rated this a hotel 4.5 if I had the option. I would stay there again and would definitely recommend it.
GGuest UserI’ve been traveling all over Australia and US and it was not my first time sleeping in an Hostel , I think I know more or less what to expect for that price but this time I must say I have had a terrible experience. In the beginning I had a problem with my credit card which was blocked (my fault) and of course without credit card they couldn’t accept any other way to pay , that’s fine I understand there is a procedure to follow , I was in panic and very tired after 20 hours traveling from Amsterdam and , speaking with the manager of the structure , I have asked her if she could provide a clip or something to extract my canadian sim card from my telephone to exchange it with my personal one so i could have called the credit card company for assistance. She didn’t want to help me and she suggested me to ask some neighbor, luckily a very kind employee helped me once she went away. The second day i went to my room to sleep and I found another person sleeping in my bed , asking to the receptionist he told me that it was my fault because i should have left some belonging on my bed to occupy it, it is weird because normally when you leave you have to take off the sheets and put them in a bin so that was obvious that the bed was assigned at the moment. I had to insist to make them realize that that was their mistake and the person in my bed should have found another bed. The hostel is a little dirty and the young staff is not able to manage properly , they are very disorganized and the manager is very rude and arrogant. Definitely I don’t recommend this hostel at least not more that one night.
GGuest UserFILTHY. Filthy, Filthy, Filthy. Rented a three bedroom chalet for our family of four with two toddlers. There was great appeal in the jungle gym and the waterslides, and separate bedrooms for all. This place is a dive. They have done zero routine maintenance in years and it shows. We have blankets on the couch it is so stained. I spent an hour washing down the kitchen, bathtub, bathroom, etc. While wiping the sink countertop under the mirror the white towel came back filthy. There were crumbs on the counters and dirt on the floor. I called the front desk three separate times within our first hour there. No coffee. No lightbulb in the bedroom. Not even burnt out, missing. A gift bag and piece of a retainer found on the far side of the downstairs bedroom. Burnt out lights in kitchen, bathroom, stairway. No stairway railing, treacherous for young children. Deck not shovelled off so no way to enjoy it. Front door doesn't seal. Bathtub plug won't hold water. One coat hanger for a chalet that sleeps six. Assigned parking space not fully shovelled, post-holing getting kids out of car seats. It's so disappointing to pay $600 for two nights and feeling so dirty you don't want to touch anything. So please take this review as written by someone who doesn't care about fancy, rather someone who cares about cleanliness and comfort. We will never be returning here. ***UPDATE: After our first night stay I pulled back the blankets in my toddlers room and there were MENS SOCKS made up in the end of the bed. We aren't staying the second night. The SHEETS were clearly NOT even CHANGED, they were REMADE from the previous guests. My skin is crawling. As requested, our stay is being refunded in full.
