This is based on two stays. Positives: staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms nice and big. Shower is powerful. Place clean to an acceptable standard. Location good for town centre. If you ever did manage a front facing room, the view would be nice. Reality: self check-in is soulless enough and I hate it, but at least make sure it works! Both times one machine out of order and the code wouldn’t work on the functional one. Had to walk around trying to find staff to assist. It’s a dreary welcome to have this happen! Vending machine broken. Both times shoved into a ground floor room - they don’t have a means to choose a room when booking, even to pay extra for a nice one. It’s total pot luck and my luck didn’t hold. Once, my room was directly facing car headlights in the car park so I had no privacy at all and couldn’t have daylight in the morning. Second time, shoved into a room catering for people with disabilities which was ground floor and looked out at nothing. Emergency cords everywhere in the room and bathroom, bed really low, sink really low and hairs under the top mattress sheet. It is a room that would suit someone with these needs but not an especially nice room for those who do not require assistance. Pretty dreary experience of their rooms all round!! One occasion my shower gel and hand soap had not been filled despite being well below the line that states “time to fill!”. Slightly abandoned sort of atmosphere to the place in general. Sorry but overall I have to describe my stay as dreary and disappointing.
