From the moment we arrived, it felt as though we were visiting a dear friend rather than staying in a hotel. Her warmth, generosity, and genuine care made us feel completely at home. The food was exceptional, and we were treated to fresh fruits and tea throughout the day. She showed special care for our children, teaching them (and us!) how to make tea, and even accompanied us on a walk to share her knowledge of the local flora. One day, she surprised us with her hidden talent as a musician, singing traditional Chinese songs while playing the guitar and drums. Her smile and positive energy were infectious, leaving a lasting impression on all of us. This homestay was more than just a place to stay—it was an unforgettable experience filled with beauty, warmth, and cultural connection. We left with full hearts and wonderful memories, knowing this was the best place we've ever stayed in China. "Two tea enthusiasts and I spontaneously decided to embark on a tea-seeking journey in Xishuangbanna. We stumbled upon the Mukolan Mountain Luxury Hotel on Xiaohongshu (a Chinese social media platform), and were immediately captivated upon checking in. The hotel's design, reminiscent of Japanese wabi-sabi, blends seamlessly with local materials and culture. Natural elements imbue the entire hotel with a sense of perfect harmony with nature, as if it were one with the surrounding rainforest. My mountain-view room featured floor-to-ceiling windows that offered breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains. The layered tea plantations shimmered in the morning mist, and the distant scenery was picturesque and truly invigorating. The room's amenities rivaled those of a five-star hotel, featuring GABO smart toilets and bathroom fixtures, a Dyson hairdryer, Bulgari toiletries, a Serta mattress, a Marshall Bluetooth speaker, and a capsule coffee machine. All rooms also included an oversized bathtub. Staying in the mountains, the quality was guaranteed. The first-floor restaurant serves breakfast, and lunch and dinner are available à la carte at reasonable prices. It offers local specialties with incredibly fresh ingredients; the chicken gizzard and sweet bamboo shoots are freshly picked, and the free-range chicken from the tea plantation is freshly slaughtered – the food is absolutely delicious! The poolside bar by the infinity pool offers coffee, tea, craft beer, whiskey, and cigars, perfect for relaxing. The outdoor infinity pool is another highlight of the hotel, offering stunning photo opportunities at any time. We were very fortunate to meet Ms. Li, a seasoned tea connoisseur, during our stay at Muke Lanshan. We sampled the King of Tea from Nannuo Mountain, the Selected No. 17 tea from Lao Ban Zhang, Pu'er tea from Kunlu Mountain, and the Girl's Red tea from Nannuo Mountain… Listening to Ms. Li tell the stories behind each tea perfectly fulfilled our dream of a tea-seeking journey. In terms of hotel amenities, all guests enjoy one-way airport/train station pick-up service, as well as a traditional, fully handmade Pu'er tea-making experience. Each of us pressed our own tea cake, and the butler led us on a hike through the 800-year-old Tea King Tree rainforest, showcasing the ancient tea tree's growing environment and pristine ecosystem of Nannuo Mountain – a true tea-seeking journey. We originally planned to stay only one day, but we were so happy after checking in that we stayed another day.
