The accommodation provides bright, well-equipped rooms and efficient, friendly service. Guests enjoy spacious, clean rooms with harbor views and an excellent breakfast. However, some rooms may lack practicality for longer stays.

Really lovely stay - great food (should be Michelin *, tasting menu is great value), efficient friendly service, nice quiet rooms, lovely harbourside location. Good value, thoroughly recommend. Carteret is a hidden gem - we hope to be back!

Superb anniversary night away. Our room was upgraded & we were delighted! The quality of service & staff greatly improved under the new ownership. Will definitely stay again, its local to us! Two tips for them, as I say to all hotels! British & Dutch visitors like proper tea! It's easy to buy either PG Tips or Yorkshire Gold Tea in France. We never drink "English" breakfast tea!! It should be served with boiling water, cold milk & white sugar, if required!!! We had to ask for the breakfast menu. Apart from that, wonderful!!

We only had one night at this fabulous hotel. Everything about it was great: the staff are smiling, helpful, expert. The hotel is fresh and light. Our harbour view rooms were wonderful. It really is a terrific pace that deserves to succeed.

Room was delightful. Balcony overlooking the estuary. Quite small balcony; but it lost the sun circa 4pm. Interesting arrangement of balconies and terraces. We were on 3rd floor, so we had a view of a number of the terraces, which was interesting for us; perhaps not for the people we overlooked. The guests on the 2nd floor terrace below us; were quite noisy (mostly mobile phone chatter) and worse when they had sunk a bottle of red. Breakfast at €24pp was quite high (compared with other hotels we stayed at). After 12 days in Brittany, we had become meal-weary and bypassed the gourmet restaurant, on site. Looked good though. Parking was potluck (about 7 spaces on site); we managed to secure 1 day only; but nearby was free and reasonably secure. Staff we professional and attentive. Carteret is a pretty village; good boulangerie, with excellent and vast beaches nearby.

Well its a very long time I stayed in any hotel that didn't have at least a king sized bed. Standard double? Reception staff very pleasant. The Michelin starred restaurant? Well, don't bother. we were 6, we all were obliged to take the same choice of dishes & had to plead for one of the fish dishes to swap for lamb. The food was OK, if a tad pretentious. We had to ASK every time for fresh water to be brought, the waiters were very busy gushing over a couple behind us. The last straw was when we actually had to ASK again if the did in fact serve coffee! We asked for coffee & a digestif, the coffee arrived with the drinks menu, again the waiter went off to chat, so by the time we got the digestifs, the coffees were cold. We then waited for the bill, again three waiters laughing and joking with the other table with their backs to us. Eventually we just walked out to reception. We will not go back!

The contemporary room with a view over the harbour and tidal fishing fleet was lovely (beware the glass walled bathroom - it hurts if you walk in to it !) . Comfortable, doors on to a timber deck, glorious views. However, the €82 six course dinner was horrible and a huge disappointment. Raw fish, raw beef and raw oysters, raw mackerel and asparagus, and so on. Beautifully presented by a surfeit of tweezers but hardly anything was actually cooked. A mouthful at best of the nicest items, two or three for the unpleasant. The head waiter spoke good English when we sat down but thereafter our requests were ignored in a barrage of Normand French. A bit like the Kings Clothes , a lot of ego and puff and the gullible will accept it , if we asked for anything it was ignored, after the six courses we adjourned to the lounge bar but were followed by a dish of something vaguely chocolate with a bowl of brown chicken grit - allegedly choc soil accordingly to our waiter. It needed a large Pastis 51 to restore the taste buds. Hotel in every respect superb, eat somewhere else for half the price and triple the pleasure. The one great disappointment in our gourmand trip around Normandy.
