We have been using the restaurant at the Chewton Glen on a couple of occasions and have never been disappointed. Recently an event arose for a small family party (27 people). We decided to take them to this hotel nested in the countryside. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted and escorted to the partitioned Lake Suite, by Raymond the deputy manager. He was always present and impeccably dressed. We could have not have been better served or looked after. Josh and Alex in charge of the private room on the day, ensured the proceedings ran smoothly for the occasion. Unusual but exceptional canapés and Laurent Perrier were offered on arrival. The following lunch comprised, as a starter: Salt Baked Heritage Beetroot (extremely tasty to begin). It was followed by Coq au Vin, prepared and cooked to perfection with small lardons, Paris mushrooms, silver skin onions and parsley. The classic and delicious Tarte Tatin was the dessert The following paired wines, suggested by the very knowledgeable Natasha, were a perfect match: 2021 Côtes du Rhône, Paul Jaboulet 2020 Châfeau Grand Village Bordeaux Superior 2022 Sauternes’Maison Sichel’ Delicious, tasty, luscious, appetising, fantastic, were the feed back comments from our families. We decided to stay the night and when again Raymond came to take us to our bedroom you can imagine our surprise when he showed us to an upgraded Suite (no 6) overlooking the immaculate garden, with every comfort that can be found in a five star hotel. We relaxed in the well equipped spa before retiring and slumping, exhausted, in a most comfortable bed for the night. This will be an occasion and celebration we shall never forget.
