2-Star Hotels in Batesville

Nice, clean and pretty well maintained for one of the lowest priced hotels in Batesville PLUS a dog show was in town bringing in 1000 visitors for the weekend so we were lucky to get a room. Breakfast and breakfast staff, both wonderful. I am a 100% disabled veteran so I did get a small discount PLUS the clerks young grandson carried my bags, showed me where my room and dining rooms were (I have stayed 5/6 times before so I actually knew where the dining room was but he was so happy to be helpful I didn’t tell him I knew). Great breakfast and the woman who works the dining room is so kind, helpful and always smiling.

If I could give them a 0, I would. I traveled home for my Aunts funeral to a property in Batesville, MS and booked the hotel for multiple nights. Got in late and it took over 20 minutes for me and my family to be put in a room. After the 4th or 5th time of the key not working to the room, the desk attendant finally went up and opened the door. No big deal, after driving 8 hours we all were tired so no big deal. At 2:30 in the morning, I wake up to my arm feeling like it was on fire, and this what was found when I turned on the lights. The bed bud was taken down to the front desk, the attendant verified and apologized and I was told I would get a $30 comp and told that I could talk to the manager April then next morning, Thursday of my aunts funeral. The manager was rude. Gave me a long spill about her hands being rude and there’s nothing she could do when I only asked to be comped for the one night. She denied. I informed her I was from out of state and she wanted me to wait until Monday until Pest Control came in to verify the room had bed bugs. What more does one need? I told her there was no way I could wait until Monday being that I was leaving back out Sunday the 1st. I asked for a refund. Nothing, so I had to find other arrangements for my family to stay and missed my aunts funeral. I’ve requested my money back several times, both through the 3rd party app and she’s denied it, so I filed a complaint with CORPORATE and Cynthia tells me again it’s denied and that a they have to stick by the hotel decision. MARRIOT? IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS AND DO BUSINESS? I only asked for one night to be comp, I booked for 3. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. The next step is me going through my bank. I tried to be reasonable. This happened at the end of December, it is now JANUARY 18th, 2022. I was told by Cynthia who supposed to be a Supervisor that I could call Maryland to speak to someone, because there was also nothing she can do, but the number she gave me was the same number I was talking to her own. Make it RIGHT!

We booked a room for 2 nights, checking in April 8th and checking out April 10th. Unfortunately due to a family emergency, we were unable to check in the 8th. We couldn’t cancel the room for the 8th because it was after the cut-off time so understood we’d have to eat the $90 for that night. We got into town about 7 the evening of the 9th to check in and found out our room had been cancelled. We had no knowledge of this happening. We never received any communication by phone call, email or text saying our room was cancelled. The 2 gals at the desk said their manager had cancelled our room because we were a no show, there was nothing they could do, that they called the manager and he was on his way down. His name is Sonny and let me say he is INCREDIBLY RUDE AND A JERK. He basically arrived and didn’t acknowledge us. Walked past us on the sidewalk and went in. Came back out and didn’t like the fact we were confronting him. He raised his voice, told us it’s not HIS responsibility to call and tell us the room was cancelled, told us to call Expedia (we told him repeatedly we booked through orbitz) and he said Expedia cancelled our room, not him and that he’s keeping our money. He then told the one lady to call the cops, and she did. We decided to leave then, but before we did I asked the lady for the owners name. The manager started yelling they would give me no information!! The 2 ladies were standing there, looking at me, not saying a word. It was obvious they could not help me or risk the wrath of this jerk. I really felt sorry for them. So..because every room within a 60 mile radius of batesville was booked we had to drive back to Memphis to find a room. On the way I called orbitz, and told them what happened. They put me on hold and called America’s Best Value Inn. After a couple of min orbitz got back on the line w me and said the lady on the phone wouldn’t let him get a word in about the situation and that she refused to comment on it. They said he needs to call their manager before 8 tomorrow morning. Again, this shows that the manager has instructed them to say nothing about him cancelling our room and I’m sure they are probably worried about their jobs. This guy sucks. Rude, unreasonable, and an all-around jerk. He made the mistake by NOT getting in touch with us about cancelling our room. And, this place is definitely not the Ritz. It’s dumpy and janky. Definitely not worth $90 a night...the price they jacked the room up to. My best advice: steer clear of this place. And dear Sonny, I just want to say to you, bless your heart ❤️

After driving forever looking for a GOOD place to lay our heads after a long day and a half, I passed 2 or 3 other properties at this exit (for no particular reason) to come to this one. It was meant to be. We were greeted warmly by Kiwanis, who (thank God) informed us there was a vacancy. As luck would have it, we made it just in time before the restaurant closed. Food was ample and well-prepared. Following a good night's sleep in a nice, clean big room with high ceilings, returned to the restaurant for breakfast. Next met up with courteous LaPrecious at the front desk to add ANOTHER day to our stay as we were so happy there. Unfortunately so busy between Memphis and Clarksdale that we never made it to the pool, which upset my daughter, because it looked very refreshing. Front desk clerk (not LaPrecious or Kiwanis) would only give us a 30-minute later check-out as opposed to an hour, which was curious as they did not appear overly busy, but whatever.

This was a brand spanking new hotel. The staff was friendly and very courteous. Covid precautions being taken very seriously. Good location with easy access. Cleanliness was spot on! Pool and patio with grills. Exercise room but it was closed due to Covid. The rooms after cleaning were sealed and the customer was the one to break the seal to help insure the rooms were sanitized.
