My intended booking was at splendid hotel in lugano but once I went there I realised that it was at baveno 😅 ,so I took a taxi for 350 euro to go there . The front desk upgraded my rooms to lake views for 80 euro/night. The gym is for 12 euro /person, the breakfast is about average nothing special. The front desk are nice people but they put an extra service charge for that(optional). The view from the balcony was beautiful.

Hotel is a decent value. Old school oppulent rooms. Service is typical Italian: nice, but they will try to cheat you. We ate at the hotel restaurant. They did not provide us with the bill, neither at the restaurant nor when we checked out. Only after I asked, they showed it to me. They overcharged us on the desert and charged us tips as well. They also added "gratuity" to the overall room. We had booked the beauty package (which they generously comped us), but did not tell us that the sauna would be closed for cleaning. They do have a tennis court, which is very nicely situated, but dilapitated.

Just ate at the Restaurant and I only have one word. Woeful!. Stale bread, pre crumbed packet fish deep fried until totally destroyed, boiled veg and not to menu description. They have a version of ravioli that we have never seen or tasted previously. Please don't waste your money or time

Gorgeous hotel with a beautiful view - very well built & maintained - conveniently located in baveno. Nice buffet breakfast. Pleasant front desk employees. Great bar service in the lobby or from outside patio area. Beach loungers facing the water.

Needs refurbishing.Lovely position but very dated and not in a nice way.Arrogant waiter in charge of restaurant who wouldn’t let us sit outside for breakfast because we were with Cunard sun we hadn’t paid enough! Would not return also lost my husband’s luggage and didn’t seem in the least bit perturbed.

The hotel property is located on the lake side just outside Stresa in Baveno. This is a big plus for the hotel since it has a decent size flat manmade beach with loungers and a private dock to swim off. Also there is no road noise since the hotel blocks it and the balconies have stupendous unobstructed views. The hotel wasn’t busy so we enjoyed our balcony without any neighbors on adjacent balconies (so no outdoor smokers phew). The room and bath were comfortably sized. However, the decor is Tony Sopranos over the top. The food we ordered from room service was acceptable, like a solid B-. Air conditioning is controlled by the main desk and our room didn’t get cool enough so neither of us had a good night’s sleep. The pool area is set aside with loungers on the lawn separated by a hedge. And we were told at our room rate, we’d have to pay 12 euros each to use the gym.

The hotel is situated on a peninsula so the views overlooking the lake are absolutely stunning. The entrance & bar area are beautiful and the reception staff very welcoming. My gluten free requirements were met for breakfast, with fruits, yoghurts, eggs, meats, cheeses & a separate GF section with bread, cereal, cake etc., just a shame there was not a separate toaster. We ate at the hotel for one evening meal, but the choice was quite limited & we felt it very expensive for the food & service received. There is no tea or coffee facilities in the room (as with many Italian hotels), but there was a cold water machine in the reception area to refill bottles. The pool, seating & deck areas were immaculate & not overly busy. Our room was clean, comfortable and a good size. The bathroom, although a little small was clean & the shower worked well. The balcony was the best part & spoiled us each morning with the beautiful vista. It was a 10 minute walk into Baveno, where we found the ferry service, boat trips, and a choice of bars & restaurants. There was also a well stocked supermarket just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. All in all it was a lovely hotel in a great location & would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about going to Lake Maggiore. Just note the transfer from MXP airport can be quite expensive if you are getting a taxi or private car.
