Beacon Hotel

I had an absolutely amazing five night stay at the Hotel Beacon. The hotel is somewhat iconic in NYC and this is reflected in everything one experiences while there; it’s run like a well-oiled machine. Check in smooth, efficient & friendly as were all the staff in the reception area. Extending my reservation was a breeze, with the reservations manager (Dawn) going above & beyond the call of duty to assist in finding me the best rates possible. Even the housekeeping staff were outstanding. The rooms are surprisingly well-sized, well-equipped and offer the added benefit of a little kitchenette which goes such a long way in saving on meals. The views are breath taking! The hotel has the most ideal location being two short blocks away from an express subway station & with a bus stop a half a block away. The upper west side of Manhattan is wonderful in that it has a neighbourhood feel, while also having an endless array of restaurants to choose from, being two blocks from the glorious Central Park & two subway stops from Time Square. I highly recommend Hotel Beacon and wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to the staff for making my stay so memorable.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this is not a hotel: it’s more like an airbnb. There is no reception area nor any onsite staff. If you are looking for those things, keep searching. The not-so-great part of my experience was the main entrance, which not only looked sketchy and dirty but perpetually smelled of ethnic foods and cigarette smoke. Trekking up and down three flights of stairs with luggage was a bit of a hassle, but thankfully I’m a healthy person and managed to do it. The good part? Once inside my room, I was relieved to find that the smells from the lower levels hadn’t worked there way in. My room had two large windows which let in plenty of light, and the window AC unit kept the place cool. The living space, especially the bathroom, had been updated, and everything was comfortable and in good working order. There were complimentary snacks on the counter, bottles of water in the fridge, and all the requisite paraphernalia for morning coffee. The best part was the location: Main Street, within walking distance of everything. For me, that was really the most important thing.

Always clean, great staff, housekeeping, etc. This is a true hidden gem on Upper West Side. The location is great for getting taxis, Ubers and is conveniently across the street from NYC icons Citarella and Fairway. My wife and I always stay here and have never been disappointed

This place was completely disgusting. falsely advertised on these trip websites. There is no lobby, no front desk, no one to contact for problems. The building is under renovation, so its not even a completed hotel. You enter through a seedy short term mini apartment rental facility entrance. The hall reeks of cigarettes and who knows what else. We had to get a resident of the rentals to let us in as we had no codes for the doors, you need 3 separate codes for 3 doors to get to your room. felt very unsafe. Cleaning lady who just happened to be there let us in the room. She only cleans once for your entire stay; we booked 7 nights. I am a 66-year-old male, in decent shape but had to carry all our luggage upstairs to the room, at my own risk. The room was OK, but had leftover shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and other sundries from previous guests. I would have left at this point but was later in the day and had nowhere else to go. Next morning, went to shower and there was NO HOT WATER and no one to contact, this was the straw that broke the camel’s back, we packed our bags and left. We then reached out to Agoda to get our money refunded, over $1300 to no avail. Stay far away from this place.

Fantastic hotel in beautiful upper west side! We had a spacious suite with a full kitchen which is perfect for any family, very clean, great gym and wonderful staff. Surrounded by so many great restaurants and stirs but away from the mob of tourists. Subways stations near buy and a pleasure to take.

This is the perfect hotel for a NYC visit. Set on the Upper West Side across the street from many legendary stores in a primarily residential area. I lived 35 years in Manhattan and would choose this hotel for every visit. It is clean, with cheerful and competent staff. It is not glitzy but clean and comfortable. I feel as though I have a home in NYC when I visit
