We only stayed on night, the room was clean and comfortable with some lovely little extras. A short walk to the town & beach it was perfect for a night away. With the added bonus of not having to pay for parking.

We stayed in Room 4 at Belmont House for two nights, earlier this week. We had been treated most reasonably by our hosts, as we had to cancel twice due to the heatwaves. We had been advised that our hosts would not be home when we arrived, but the keys would be in an envelope on the porch. Our first frustration was where the free parking was, as advertised on the front windows. We looked in desperation and found a private carpark off the side street….but there were no parks allocated to Belmont House. The house is surrounded but yellow lines, so we headed for the Public Carpark across the road and paid £4 for two hours. When we got to the porch there was an envelope with the keys….and a free parking voucher…so another wander to the carpark to put it on the dash. We feel we should have been given details on the phone when booking. The risers on the stairs made going up and down quite an exercise, as we are of reasonably advanced age. Our first impressions of the room was rather claustrophobic. One small window with a venetian blind. And, surprise, surprise….you could only watch tv lying on the bed. The rather uncomfortable couch was out of view. We were greeted by a bottle of wine in a bucket. Would it have been complementary? We will never know, as we did not sight our hosts at all during our stay. The reading light on one side of the bed had a very short chain. You had to get out of bed to turn it off. The bathroom was spacious, but had some frustrations. My partner is not tall and she couldn't see in the main mirror! I welcomed a bath after our trip. I got in and then wondered how I would get out….no handles! Luckily I had put the rubber mat at the end and used it to get a grip on the side! As Belmont House is a B, not a B&B, we ate at the nearby hotel and cafes. A welcome change from being in Room 4. Would we return….definitely not! Once was enough. Value for money? Not really! We have learned a lesson. As you age, only book ground floor rooms! Geoff and Mary
