Booked Shaka Caye Resort on somewhat of a whim with a large friend group for a 50th birthday party week adventure. Didn’t do much research, was in for the adventure. Began getting emails and texts immediately from Daisy (travel coordinator). Communication was great and all questions answered. Our party landed in Belize Airport late January ‘25 on our journey to Shaka Caye Resort. We were Sept up at the airport and driven to a very quaint and private boat house, located down an isolated dirt road. Don’t fret if you feel you’re in a scene from a kidnap movie, you are not! The charm of Belize and spirit of adventure is not lost. We were met at the transport boats at night, in complete darkness. Both captains along with Daisy greeting us with big smiles and friendly welcomes. This was just the beginning of Shaka Caye staff treating us like family. After departing the dock and traveling through what I can only describe as the beginning of Disneys Pirate’s of the Caribbean ride, a 45 minute moonlit ride off the coast of Belize, and we found ourselves pulling into the small sheltered harbor of the island. Quickly greeted by bartenders Roddy and Michael who presented cold cocktails and warm greetings. Staff delivered our luggage to our rooms as we adjourned to the open Telapa style bar with ample seating and ambiance music filling the air. Soon we found ourselves sitting down at the newly remodeled water front restaurant with wrap around deck. Waiter Percy gave us our 3 dinner options that included locally sourced and quite delicious items. After a great first night we adjourned to our rooms. I found our two bedroom beach front bungalow beautifully restored, giving off a warm island vibe feeling, nothing too fancy but the linnens were fresh and clean, the mini fridge stocked with chips, candy, water and soda and the mini split AC’s blowing cold and hard. The fully stocked kurig machine, sink with cups and glasses was a great touch. Seating area in the living room with two comfy chairs made for a nice area to prep for the days adventures. Open the curtains and quickly find a view to die for. Turquoise blue water and white sand beach lined with kayaks, paddle boards and sun lounges to make your beach days perfect. After exploring the island on the first day and locating a nice little lounge and gaming area with massage room and his and her bathrooms, we found a second building with some weights, treadmill and yoga mats, in case you wanted more exertion than stumbling out of your room to the bar, the beach or the restaurant. Over the next 6 days our group found ourselves each night socializing at the Telapa bar, while drinking our weight in tasty beverages, singing karaoke and enjoying conversation with staff. Each day we were treated to at least three meals, each course we were given a choice of three options. Never disappointing, always a great veriety, we found ourselves rarely eating the same thing twice. All meals and non premium cock
